Does anyone know if the creators plan on implementation of cc control? I want to control it from an external sequencer, the squarp

would love to know exactly this.

Blackbox 1.2 does granular synthesis now…

It’s great, too!

You can edit grain size and count, as well as “spread” which randomizes grain position around the playhead. The playhead moves through the sample at the speed you set, independent of the sample’s pitch setting. It’s fun to have it just endlessly graining along a sample with bidirectional looping at slow speed.

 - just watched it at elektronauts - great

This is quite an incredible little box I’m pinching myself hard to remember I don’t need it.

Sigh…on the the GAS list it goes.

Super cool!

Checking in on this thread as I know some time has passed. I would totally go for this, but it’s lacking in modulation—i.e., LFOs—and sequencing—e.g., p-locking—options. Have there been/will there be any updates to address this?

No updates to modulation so far. Seems to be a top request, so hoping it’ll come in the future.

Any recent feedback on this little machine ?
I’m considering to use it to trigger long recordings as transitions between songs, with some granular action on it, to “travel” across the recording. Would you say it’s a good choice ?

It will handle any long sample you can throw at it, and the granular mode works well. The speed of scanning across the sample can be modulated, even by CC if you want, down to zero speed. It will also obey loop points and mode so you could bounce back and forth between two loop points while you control both those points at once with the knobs for some crazy fun.

I just bagged one of these and I am mightily impressed by the capability

I haven’t managed to setup in the studio but will later tonight.

i was inspired by this vid:

Looking forward to a 909, squid salmple, norns and 16n workout with the bitbox

I actually returned the blackbox after a few days of trying it out. It does everything it is supposed to, but I didn’t find it fun to use at all. The menu feels so random and the overall workflow inconsistent. Like you would sometimes expect parameters to be controlled with a certain knob because it was similar on a previous page, but on the next you need to use the touchscreen.

Granted, I am generally not too big on touchscreens, so the purchase was a bit of a gamble for me anyways. And some people probably won’t mind the things I found tedious. But the machine just had no flow to me. Which for a sampler that is rather simplistic in its functionality, is the most important aspect in my opinion.

Exactly the same ! bringing it back today. Too simple.

I am in two minds and see what happens after tonights jam

Is it easy to replace the loops. Say you fill up the 16 and want to keep going can you hit record on a pad that already has something and replace it?

Will need to check this out for you tomorrow.

As i understand it you can have 64 samples chopped and this expands its possibilites and not just the 16 as mentioned

You can overwrite/replace easily and bouncing down tracks is immediate too

didn’t even get to syncing yet as it’s blown my mind and within a few hours i ordered another one.

this and two norns is where i’m going for a micro setup with turntables too

peace
