My 104hp rig is basically a complete recording studio at this point:

Working on ergonomics; gettin’ there.

How do you find the Synthrotek LPG? Has it similar sound to any more recognizable low pass gate?

I’ve had a few others over the years (Doepfer A-101-2, Optomix, Sputnik quad, LxD), and I’d say the Synthrotek I built with the default vactrols is on the longer decay side.

It sounds good and generally works well, but I don’t understand why designers put CV attenuation on the control inputs–these should be offsets! Optomix is the same way, so it’s not a specific knock on the Synthrotek.

The resonance is on the wild side and not as useful to me as the Doepfer’s very flexible resonance & input level controls.

Overall, I like it a lot better than the LxD it replaced. Beware of the depth!

That sounds interesting. The pcb&panel set is only $25, so I’ll give it a try!

Quick questions, cant you just set Pam’s New Workout channel levels down to like 70%

I dont get how it is fiddley if you can just set it?

Ok did some amendments, and I think that I have a good system here. Decided to dig in and get a Teletype. Please critique, or praise xD…
Im very excited about this as a possibility.

Ooooh nice. I’d guess that you were a little short on LFOs? That said, I’m not sure how much heavy lifting Teletype can do for stuff like that. But you’ve got a lot of modules that would enjoy modulation and you may want to use Just Friends as a sound source.

You could swap out the Mix 4 for a 2hp Mix and save 1hp…

I’d say you’re trying to pack in too many sound sources (5-6?) into 104hp. Those micro mutable modules and others are going to be very tightly packed and not so ergonomic. Also clouds works best with attenuated modulation (JF is fixed) so that’s another consideration. I’d rethink the functionality a bit (sometimes less = more!) or go 6U. But each to their own and this might work for you

Yeah I think your right! I think im going to swap out nRings and pop in a 4hp quad LFO and a 4hp Quad attenuator. Thoughts? Or would you suggest something else. mPlaits and mRings are the ones that im hung up on. Perhaps Ill get a Make Noise Function.

For 8hp you could get Pamenla’s New Workout which gives you LFOs, attenuators, clocks, all sorts… And it comes in a tube! Not quite as expressive though - it’s more “set it and forget it”.

A nice thought! I am a bit weary of menu diving with the teletype. I think ill loose my mind with an the input lol.

What will you use the Hendrikson for?

W/ can be used as a delay among other things, so it might make sense closer to the end of the chain.

W/ also likes a steady CV offset source sometimes, to set speed, amount of “delay feedback”, etc. You could get that out of Teletype, but that might be a waste of a CV channel, particularly with that many sound sources. You could get it from Cold Mac but that would use up Cold Mac. This might benefit from an active attenuverter that can provide static offsets, something like Shades or Triatt or whichever.

These are just thoughts

Do you have particular musical plans for this, or is it more for experimentation and playful exploration?

Also, have you considered an Intellijel 4U or their upcoming palette cases? I know the 4U is less minimal, and I believe you’re touring (at least, if you’re the person I recently bought a Control File from who said they were touring and needing to consolidate). But on the other hand, you could get some of the utilities that this feels like it’s needing in the 1U row. That would also let you move headphones up there, freeing a little space.

thinking about making a very thin, minimal DIY case to use for situations when I don’t want to bring the whole 7U. something like this in mind.

alternatively if anyone has any tips on cheap DIY case methods do tell  Originally I was thinking of making something very ISMS like, just thin sheet metal box, but I don’t think I have the tools necessary to work metal like that.

So many cool ideas here.

The goal is to basically score live documentaries on this. So switching between ambient and rolling mathematical melodies.

NICE!!! Did not know this!

Is there a link for this? I cant seem to find their new cases.

GREAT IDEA!

@eyeiaye I think Intellijel has only announced the Palette cases on IG:

What are your controls? I assume w/ Meadowphysics and Teletype you may have at least one Grid. Anything else?

If you’re doing live scoring playability seems like it would be a really strong consideration, as well as quick patch changing and manual parameter control, which might lead me to question the crampedness of the μtable modules.

Thanks so much for taking time with this.

Yes w/ Meadowphysics and Teletype with Grid. Playability is a chief concern but I am super anal, so I would rehearse like crazy so it is part of my body. I dont really “improv” because I have fixed video content I work with. So improv is “scripted.”

I am debating adding a 1u row to this setup where I would have intellijel uMidi. This way I could play lead on a keyboard.

I missed out on Isms years ago, so I tried to put together the next best thing. I only cried four times in dealing with my rat’s nest of i2c/power connections during assembly.

It feels good to cut stuff out and focus.
