Wonderful breakdown! Inspiring and exciting to hear how you customized the mn system to suit you.

beautiful system—i can’t help but picture just friends as your stages replacement!

This little skiff is keeping my very entertained while I wait for the arrival of my new 6u

I seriously can’t get over the TSNM. It’s the synthesizer interface I’ve always wanted. It really makes me feel more connected to the instrument than ever. It’s a hard feeling to describe, but I do know that as long as I’m playing synthesizers with patch cables coming out of them, the TSNM will be close by

I had originally planned this as another of the Blackhole Cases SUB_SIX’s, but I like, have a skiff already so decided to squash the GAS and get those extra 4hp.

It’s also a “look ma no oscillator” entry (do we have a dedicated thread for these yet?), designed primarily to mangle Nebulae samples (working very well for this!).

The Falistri is a late addition and the piece most likely to change. I had one lying around not in use, and I really love it as a module, so I thought I’d see how it goes.

(And yes, I know for a “no oscillator” entry I have quite a few competent multi-function modules that hold their own as oscillators… but that’s part of the fun of modular, right?)

How do you use Just friends with Nebulae?

Nebulae has a lot of modulation inputs, and JF has a lot of outputs, so usually I just self-patch JF a little then take the remaining outs to some of Nebulae’s ins.

I would recommend at least attenuators between them, and for certain the of the inputs—Start & Size especially—you’re well served by some quantization, otherwise it gets very jumpy (which might be your thing!).

(Here of course it’s just opening & closing the VCA, because I love imprecise envelopes [see also the Falistri & the lovely ADDAC Stochastic Function Generator in my other rack].)

Sometimes I look at this thread and think, “wow, other folks’ systems look so cohesive.” This is where my little skiff is at after a year and a half of iteration.

I’m thinking this would make a rather lovely Music Easel inspired system (using one of the new Intellijel Palette cases):

It seems I’ve got all modules you have here, except TSNM.
Are there any recordings made with this rack on YT?

after months of usage and some slight module placement tweaks, i’m really happy with how this feels in terms of patch flow and creative possibilities … couldn’t think of anything i would add just now …

Unfortunately I didn’t have this setup together for too long before I moved it all into my other case.

This is what my 104 hp looks like right now. It’s entirely focused on making 4/4 almost danceable music. It’s kind of interesting to use a modular that is set up entirely for one purpose

I did my first live performance with it last night - unfortunately the recording ended up clipping a bit, but I’ve uploaded it here anyway.

I’m consdering changing the bit crusher for a smaller distortion unit - so I can fit in a w/ or something for weird samples.

still work in progress. Mainly using it for live jamming and self playing patches.

Waiting on Sloth PCBs/panels, and on the hunt for an a-138m & 1u USB (for powering SoftPop), otherwise this is the current state of mine. Trying things without a dedicated filter for now.

What is the Oplab box?

at first I thought: wow, no rnd/noise/s&h module?! must be all feedback, then? but then I saw those very stealth tiles; nice. interested in the bizmuth … do you return to similar input sources for ‘gestural’ switching? do some work better than others (audio/cv/trigs)?

It’s a midi cv converter amongst other things. Yeah use it to get things like the op1 to talk to eurorack iPad organelle etc.

I mostly use it for sending different modulation sources to things. I haven’t used it in powered mode (B Sockets fire off gates) yet.

This is my new noise rig, 90hp. Geiger counter might go but I’ve been really having fun with it for drones, harsh noise, space sounds, even the occasional melodic content. just about every module can make noise on it’s own, or perform 2 or more functions at the same time. It’s real fun to sit on the porch with on my days off!

Current Pittsburgh 104 Move configuration. Pairs well with a TR-09 for techno jams: clock out of TR-09 into Stillson Hammer & audio out of TR-09 into a stereo in on the Cockpit. Ready to jam with @markeats tomorrow night. Running the Looping Delay mode on Clouds, which I haven’t spent enough time with. I could just use the BIA + Peaks as a drum machine if I didn’t have the TR-09 around. Versatility!
