You can compile your own firmware and leave out the ones you don’t like, I have 3 o&c now, 2 hemi, 1 standard, amazing utility/fun

My Thoughts exactly!
Not sure what case you had but have you had a read of these?

Thanks. I have a 3u 104 though so I’d have to cut a hole in the case and fit a USB port there myself.

A riff on @alanza’s design.

The 1U row takes care of utilities (:two_hearts: Noise Tools), leaving ample space on the main row. And lest we forget the 1U Line In, which works wonders to transform this system into a labyrinthian stereo delay processor and looper.

Bizmuth and Batumi, while on opposite ends, work together to trigger Teletype and generally orchestrate the chaos in between.

Two W/s sandwich the rest of the Mannequins line, lending themselves to stereo delay (which can be tempo-synced via Teletype) or, if desired, longer forms of déjà vu.

Cold Mac sits somewhat in the middle, fulfilling its duty as Panoptic tower guard — or on its off days, as a panning VCA (the outputs of which can be fed into the W/s) and signal processor.

All in all this my favorite design I’ve put together so far. So much potential in a relatively diminutive size… none of which would have been possible were it not for this thread! Thank you!!

P.S. Oh and sometimes I switch out the Teletype for a Marbles

Been dreaming of this setup for a while, missing piece finally arrived this week. I wanted it to be able to function standalone but it can also be the heart of a larger system.

Just loaded up Parasites for the first time :microbe:

How do you imagine the Sinfonion and the rest of the system relating? The Teletype only has a single CV in, and that would take up a lot of inputs on the ER-301.

Good question, you’re right that if I wanted to use all the Sinfonion’s outs at once (not sure yet if I’ll actually want to do this very often) I’d end up using up most of the inputs on the ER-301. But when using this as a standalone I anticipate most of the parameter setting on the ER-301 will be over i2c from Teletype/16n, so I should have plenty of available inputs. FWIW the Sinfonion has i2c headers as well so with any luck in the future we’ll get a firmware update that lets me do even more of the cross communication over i2c via Teletype and save even more cables/inputs on the front side.

How do you do your mixing? Outboard mixer?

I’ve been thinkin about switching from my pretty ‘grooveboxey’ 104hp 6U setup to more ‘experimental noise boxey’ 104hp 4U setup. I also have DFAM and plan on replacing my Digitakt with Octatrack. I’m interested in playing kind of dj-like with longer stems with the Octatrack, and getting more soundscapey and experimental with the modular setup. Currently it’s pretty much two voices plus some percussions and lots of control options for flexible jams, but after getting Morphagene I haven’t really felt like making beats really honors the medium and while it is great fun, it gets kind of repetitive. And I could get those beats from Octatrack, both building them on it and using longer stems produced my still pretty DAW-based songwriting process. More focused, ‘instrument like’ setups of this thread have made me very intriqued.

This is my current plan (Modulargrid)

From the 3U modules I’m missing Just Friends, Mimeophon, w/ and Mixup. Need to sell and buy bunch of stuff. I think this will be quite a refreshing activity as I’m on the finishing stages of my upcoming debut album and it’s been kind of consuming. Reset button after finishing quite a big project, if you will.

Yeh, I’m using a K-Mix… here’s an expanded shot

be interested to hear what you are working out of this MI skiff (as someone who rolls with a largely MI 104hp once in a while), and I guess more specifically what kind of patch this is (how you would describe it in your own words), and more more specifically how you are using Tides2.

Here’s some raw recordings from this weekend using this setup

In terms of patching… I tend to just improvise until it starts sounding good, hit record, then pull everything out and start again

Finally got my case! So excited about this setup, fortunately I have free day tomorrow so plenty of time to patch and play and set it up with Octatrack and Field Kit FX. As I mentioned earlier new modules for me in this build are Just Friends, w/, Mixup and the 1u utilities. I quickly tried out the JF and it feels so powerful and fun to use.

As a sidenote, if Schneidersladen is to be believed the Intellijel 104hp 4U case is out of production, so if it’s something you want it might be a good idea to snatch one now when some stores still have them in stock. Great feeling case, whole another level compared to my now gone Mantis.

i took Inspiration from this Video of Surgeon having a rundown of his Liverig.

i like this guy because of his love for the Turingmachine that brings him that Technoelement, rather helping him improvise that element. Two other Modules that define his Sound are the Launchcodes for Triggers and that Cwejman Audio mixer for the Punch. His System is slightly bigger than 104hp but he needs to change flavor every like 15minutes…i don’t. i wanted a versatile Instrument that has an oscilator and some Kind of Bumbumbumbum 4 to the floor element that can be manipulated. I call this Machine Music not Techno…

i came up with this:

since the Turingmachnie was my first Module ever, i started with it including the addon Pulses and Volts-i could not be arsed to unplug them and Volts is a great 2nd line melodymaker. Its all driven by Pamela, i’ll come back to why there is a midi/DIN Expander. The Pico Quant is handy to get this more musical and more Techno because you can define your scales. The turing is supernice without a Quantizer, this is actually better at noisy blipsandblops than Marbles, but its nice to have scales =)
the 2hp Div is to divide Triggers from pulses. Pulses would be the only Module i’d take out of that skiff, but its nice with Div. The TG One Sample Player provides the bumbumbum or anything else in fact. i loaded 8bit Breakbeats and Funksamples in there. A steady pulse on a Breakbeat will give you that 4tothefloor immediately, just pitched up. whats great here is that it has direct Manual control over pitch and Volume, it lets you tweak something in seconds. Ok, Maths (i’d love to own that oldschool design but alas =()…big for small Systems but here its doing lots of duties from Mixing Audio to enveloping, slewing etc…Filter8 is really nice in a small skiff because it has 2 Inputs, can provide some warm distortion or can be abused as Modulator/Oscilator. Plaits does not need praise, to me this is the Queen of small Systems! using it as a LFO goes into very strange territories…i love plaits for nice sounds but it can do dirty as well. Finally the Lyra8-FX. This is just Mojo in purest form. You can get vintage Chorus styles as well as highly unpleasant mush. CV-ing this is quite special but a hefty envelope into the dirt channel gives intstant 2nd line rhythms. Soma somehow sounds vintage and plays very well with the digital cold of plaits. Lyra8-FX is out into my Speaker. Really accurate is the Mix. You can Play with Delay/Distortion or completely without. a great last Output module!

This whole microclimate can be enlarged with a midiclock (hence the ALM Expander) going into my MPC live. i just plug from the Lyra8-FX into the MPC and a whole new Dimension opens up!
Also, most modules here can act as Modulator or providing Sound in different Situations. An Instrument thats very playable, has lots of different styles up his sleeves and is small.

tl/dr fellow Linoneans, long time just lurk…These are the threads that go beyond borders over time because they inspire=)

The 4U has indeed been discontinued, but it sounds like IJ are considering doing a bigger version of the Palette!

I’m putting together an imaginary 104hp system, main goal is to expand the capabilities of my Grandmother and process audio from my octatrack. Clock and sequencing will come from the OT via the GM’s midi to CV conversion. Wondering, in order to boost a line level signal to euro level will l be able to use a Veils or O/A/x2 channel or do I need another module? Also I’m kinda torn between Batumi and Pam’s for my 10HP of LFOs. Very new to all this so would appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

PS. Going to start with just maths and optomix, but it’s fun to plan on modulargrid…

Thought so. 84hp Pallette could’ve been enough, but with Moprhagene and ResEQ both being big must-have modules for me 62hp would’ve been too much of a compromise with other bits. If I hadn’t already sold my old case I would probably had waited for bigger Pallette.

That’s really too bad about the Intellijel 4U 104hp case. I have three of them and two of the matching gig bags–they are fantastic for smaller rigs!

I looove Surgeon! That is all.
