I went from sequencing with O_C & T_U to an ansible/grid setup and haven’t looked back since. I find that there is new territory to be discovered every time I plug in the grid, whereas with the OC I often found myself falling back to familiar patterns. I also very much enjoyed moving to a form of sequencing where everything feels more intentional (tactility etc. goes without saying). And all this is just using kria, its been over half a year and I have yet to dive into meadowphysics /earthsea.

I never really post on here but felt like chiming in, just because ansible + grid has been a complete game-changer for me!

I have to agree, Ansible+Grid has been great for me. Previous to getting Ansible I had been looking for a good sequencing solution for a while. It’s a nice combo of depth and playability.

Finally ordered one of Intellijel’s 4u 104hp cases for putting together a playable system that leans toward physical modeling. I’ll likely end up trading a few things to get closer to what I want to do, but here’s how it’s going to look with the modules I already have:

The line in will be for a contact mic that I’ll be using as a noise source/trigger. Hoping I’ll be able to stick it to the lightplane’s panel and get the noise from the pickup along with the voltage outputs from where I strike the touch plane.

Just talking about Ansible Kria (+ a grid): it can do/be so many things. I like structured tracks/“simple” sequencing where all tracks have the same length and run in sync and after the work done by @csboling that use case is now fully supported (more details in this thread Ansible Development and Beta Firmware Discussion).
Of course it was already awesome for poly* rythms.
Also the grid, even though it’s an additional device, makes editing sequences so much more direct.
All in all, if you’re already feeling like doing something else than pure random it seems like a good fit. You can go from 100% random, to poly* rythms, to four patterns that all run in sync.

Also, I noticed a monsoon in your rack. How are you liking it?
Did you try any other Clouds variants (original, microcell, etc)?

I L O V E I T… I’ve tried the original and uBurst and monsoon blows them both away… Be sure to grab the parasites firmware, there is a good cheat sheet available for monsoon. I typically use it in delay mode, it’s very playable and the LEDs on the sliders show which direction the CV is heading… Just a great effect / form factor / interface… I own two of them actually, the other is in my 62hp palette case.

A techno system I’ve been jamming on lately… So far I’m only using Marbles for sequencing but I’m going to swap out Warps for Mutant Brain so I can sequence from the digitone too… should open up a lot more possibilities.

i emailed intellijel support earlier this week, and they verified both of these claims: 4u 104hp discontinued, bigger palettes incoming. they didn’t elaborate on size of upcoming palettes.

This was the setup I used for my performance/recording at The Tank as part of The Yes & (my duo with Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti on viola, morfbeats instruments, and Hawaiian percussion).

In that group I live sample her improvisations as a primary sound source and work from there.

Not quite 104HP because I rack in 19” roadcases for easier flying etc. Nothing too crazy or obscure in this but I’d be happy to talk about it if anyone has questions.

What case are you using? I’ve been considering a small case with a 1u (PL) row, although if Intellijel are going to make larger Palette cases, then maybe I might veer away from the PL idea.

It’s a 4u RoadReady case with a Pulp Logic frame in it. Let me see if I have a photo handy…

I really love the variety of Pulp Logic stuff – so many options and useful things. So I tend to stick with him instead of IJ stuff in Tile.

Yeah, their system seems way more varied for sure. I’ve been considering building a diy 4u case out of wood and their rails to basically make myself somewhat of a diy isms case.

I’ve done that as well! Ok, I used cardboard instead of wood. And it wasn’t really like isms (it was an input/output utility box) :slight_smile: But the rails arrived and everything was great.

@PacificNorthWes this is the “double wide” version: 2 4u frames in a 4u RoadReady box. This is exactly the right size to fit in the overhead compartment (must not be behind the latch, so all the way to left or right of the compartment).
