This is awesome! Any recordings of this setup?

What case are you using? I’ve been considering a small case with a 1u (PL) row, although if Intellijel are going to make larger Palette cases, then maybe I might veer away from the PL idea.

It’s a 4u RoadReady case with a Pulp Logic frame in it. Let me see if I have a photo handy…

For scale

Oh and here’s the exact rig at soundcheck for the show.

I really love the variety of Pulp Logic stuff – so many options and useful things. So I tend to stick with him instead of IJ stuff in Tile.

Yeah, their system seems way more varied for sure. I’ve been considering building a diy 4u case out of wood and their rails to basically make myself somewhat of a diy isms case.

I’ve done that as well! Ok, I used cardboard instead of wood. And it wasn’t really like isms (it was an input/output utility box) But the rails arrived and everything was great.

@PacificNorthWes this is the “double wide” version: 2 4u frames in a 4u RoadReady box. This is exactly the right size to fit in the overhead compartment (must not be behind the latch, so all the way to left or right of the compartment).

Thanks! I’m working on it

I’m working as the “electronics assistant” for a bunch of composers writing pieces for double bass & electronics right now - would love to hear more about this performance!

I’d like to play the pieces they’re writing haha!

I have a bunch of things for double bass + modular, a series of etudes for electroacoustic performance. A little off-topic here though. Maybe we should take it to electroacoustic topic or messages.

Just getting to know Just Friends in its simplest form  . Already getting totally lost in beauty… Staying with this focus case for a while, dedicated to swelling chords.

hows that elektrofon module?

It’s really great. Does a pretty simple job but in a very good way! Easy to set up sets of chord CV and step through them. Feels great to use.

You use the four colored knobs to set the notes, assuming oscillators are tuned to middle C (has built in tuning function). Then hit + to add next chord, or - to delete. Everything is saved continuously, so powers on where you left it.

Focusing things in a 104hp make noise skiff. This was my first eurorack case, went through a couple in order to just get back here. Funny how that works…

ok so what is the black panel with the cool glyphs? :flushed:

Love the look of this, although I am also wondering what the black module with the white knobs is…

I am also curious about the dplpg’s. Am I correct that you need to feed them some cv to get them to open?

If so, what are you using for that cv? Slopes from JF? Triggers/Gates from Ansible?

Thanks!

It’s a speech synthesis module called the erd worm. It’s cool one! You can search it on modular grid with “unknown” checked.

Sometimes I’ll run audio from any of the modules into them to open the gates, or typical envelopes stuff from just friends!

Hi!
I know it’s been a while since your suggestion, but I reply to you because it is something that I have done for while in order to know what type of module should be on my list next. I have broken down some pre built systems (MN Cartesian, Shared, Endorphin.es Shuttle, Buchla and Doepfer recommended systems, etc) and some semi-modular ones (MN 0-Coast, Pittburgh Voltage Lab, Microvolt, etc) and listed the modules they are made of by type and then ordered the list by number of times the modules were included in the systems. This is the list I’ve gotten:

Some things to know: I tried to separate when some types were included several times (VCO1, VCO2, etc), LPG were counted as VCF, Envelopes and LFOs are both included in Func Gen for the list to be a little less limiting

I don’t know if I’m being too much number oriented, but I think it’s a good way to know what kind of modules you should look into next. For example, for a starter system, you should probably buy a VCO, a VCF and a Function Generator, and maybe add a mixer and/or a VCA. Then you may probable expand with a second VCO, Function Generator or a Noise generator.

Anyway, it’s just something I geek out on quite a lot when I can’t actually play on my system, I know it doesn’t replace trying out and gut feeling, but I believe it can help, so I just thought I shared

This is really interesting. You could create the archetypal 104hp skiff from this.

I’m going to swap out Warps for Mutant Brain so I can sequence from the digitone too… should open up a lot more possibilities.

Is the Mutant Brain the best (or sufficient?) solution in that particular case (Elektron gear -> modular)? I don’t have Digitone, but I have Digitakt. I started building my modular and I definitely will need something to connect them…
