I like the 104HP skiff. It’s restrictive enough to give positive constraints, but big enough to still get a full system. The MN systems have been an inspiration for sure. I have to give up 4HP to a power supply in my designs, so these are both straight 100HP systems. I haven’t played on either of these because the TT and Cold Mac are in the mail, but these are my two leading contenders for Skiff of Q4 '17,

I’d love to free up the space Maths takes for Wogglebug and LxD, but - I’m not sure if TT is really an solid Maths Function / attenuation replacement. In short, I have some playing around to do.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with Phonogene in broken echo mode, but that spot could also go to Clouds or Echophon. Same with the Ansible spot, could swap out with trilogy modules.

I have rack space for everything in a second rack on my desk, but I like the skiff size. Keeps my desk clear, which is calming.

I have a 208HP case, but I’m getting ready to start experimenting with very small cases (<= 60HP).

While I don’t want to pass on my 9u + skiffs, the cell48 with the modules: ears, peaks, rings, clouds and a passive dual attenuator, was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences for me. I should put them together again with a recorder on the couch for mangling around, far away from other options.

I’ve been considering some changes to my 3U126, and this is what I’ve settled on as my target. I’m sacrificing some things (Clouds, Cold Mac, Brain Seed, G8, Mangrove, Three Sisters, ODIO, Peaks) but gaining others in search of a more flexible system. We’ll See.

Technically 105hp.
TELEX and Just Type obviated several types of modules (VCO, VCA, and Envelopes) for me .

This…is so cool. I would love to hear what you can accomplish with this.

I was originally going for a MN System Cartesian, but I decided to drop the Telharmonic and Moddemix and use that space for a Phonogene. I will normally use the setup with other gear (2x M32s, Field Kit), but it will work on its own.

I never record anything from my Eurorack. Heck, I regularly erase all my teletype scenes too

I started with a Cell90 case, and upgraded to a 7U 84HP Intellijel last year. For me, that’s the sweet spot (though 7U 104HP could be nice too).

I’m planning on getting a Teletype in there for the non-volatile sequencing/voltage generating part and I already have a number of voices, effects (filters/wavefolder/delay/reverb/etc.), line/headphones out, sample playing, sequencing, clocking, modulation, etc. I could limit all that to a 3U 104HP case but it would be harder to not rely on external effects/etc.

But overall, I agree that having a focused modular is a good thing, too many people end up just buying and buying and adding and adding, and while it can be satisfying it’s not the ideal solution for everyone (without even getting into money issues).

THIS!

Still rocking the same 6U 90 wide that I got 5 or 6 years ago and I still love it.

Thanks for your comments, they make me rethought about getting another case. I’ll stick to 104 hp, my current rack:

to a ElCapistan > BlueSky > OP-1 > Tascam Porta02

I started Euro just over two years ago and have made it to just over 6U in that time. I feel like I’m at a point now where I have enough that I just want to knuckle down and learn what I’ve picked up recently (mostly Teletype :joy:), and I’m in the process of selling off some peripheral modules which I got without really thinking about the direction I wanted my system to go in. My issue with smaller systems is that I’m too indecisive and I feel like it rules out module combinations that I like because they take up too much space, mostly due to modules that feel, to me at least, like they really come to life with a few specific companions. Having said all of that, I’m moving into a small place in a couple of weeks, so I’m setting up a 104hp rack to have out with my H9 and Octa, and a separate (mostly empty) 6U case which my dad made for me with the overflow. (Plug: if you’re in Australia and want a handmade case, built with nice timber, message me. My dad wants to make more cases and will make them basically whatever size you want.)

Depending on how I go, I’d consider having Batumi & URA (or my other Mangrove!) in this one and have the DLD in my overflow case. Decisions, decisions.

i love 104hp as an expansive yet restrained metric. after a ton of back and forth, this is where i’ve landed and it has everything i need for where i’m at in my learning and development — JF in synth mode sounds like a damn Juno 106 under the right conditions, ansible with arc for waves of modulation, earthsea with grid for unclocked and malleable arps, just enough manual control over dynamics with shades while leaving some room for chance with cold mac. dplpg is a :gem: and the 2hp osc is surprisingly colorful. duh mangrove and 3sis. o’tool tells me more about why a sound is the sound it is — as essential as the sources themselves.

all goes out to BAM and each channel can be sent to CT5, through a chase bliss gravitas. the latter two give a lot of color and they also accept CV, so it feels holistic…haven’t been able to work it into the patch flow yet, though.

This is almost identical to my current setup Dan, except I’m working with 168hp. Would love to see some videos of this in action if you have any.

i feel like that is sort of the monome/mannequins starter system, for sure. meng qi and mutable are kindred. i have a show on saturday, will post video if i can!

Curious how the ER-301 has changed things for you. This module seems to be popping up everywhere lately, and while im curious, I’m also hesitant to go deeper into menu diving than I already am within the Eurorack space.

would be interested in the routing post skiff, esp how you’re optionally sending each channel to a ct5/bliss combo. as an aux send on a mixer? if so, what mixer? thx

aux on a kmix, which allows for switchable pre/post for every input. absolutely bonkers easy to use. a huuuuuuge tip from @stripes that brought everything together.

Among the very accessible things include a very clear signal flow with decent metering. I use it as a stereo mixer with lots of mono ins, an output module and six track recorder. This is just the top level stuff.

Currently I’m just quick saving to memory slot 1 each nightly power down, pop back in next evening and load up my quicksave. This makes keeping the patch evolving between days real easy. Often I just use it for easy tasks like those. A little limiter, an EQ.

Navigation reminds me of when I used to have an MPC2000xl, where the big wheel conditioned my muscle memory.

An added level of complexity is processing samples and signal chains with external cv control. The looper and granular sample handling is slightly more complex but should still be fun.

Suddenly there’s a downloadable custom unit which adds all sorts of fun with macros.

It’s just in light use but also just what I needed to keep the lid on the GAS.

I guess only trying it will tell, but my experience on the subject is this:
Make Noise power : 1.2A in the +12v rail
I have a Synthrotek (2A in the +12v) in a 128hp system, very similar to yours, lots of digital, lots of Mutable. Upon turning it on, Elements doesn’t light up, because of the initial inrush current. So, the amount of amps of your system is important, but also the amount of inrush, which people don’t talk about that much. So now, I have to use two powers, one for each 64hp line, while I wait for my Elby CGS power delay.
So that’s my only guess. But if you already have all that powered up without problems, then I’d guess the grid must suck power specially from the 5V rail, which is not used at all by the rest of your modules. So maybe you’re fine
