Is it possible to build a 16n without the CV inputs? I just need a simple controller with faders for CC.

FWIW - the CV jacks are outputs rather than inputs.

I suppose you could leave the jacks off if you didn’t need them. Probably a few other components you could omit, but it’s not like those MCP6004’s are expensive or anything.

Yeah, because of how it’s designed, you still need all the opamps and most of the discreet parts. These are the single cheapest part of it, fwiw.

If you genuinely just want a USB midi box, the original design from @tehn still works. The boards are a bit smaller, and the panels are different.

No. CV is entirely analogue, and, being honest, fader at the bottom should be 0V.

You’re definitely connecting to the ER-301 with CV and not I2C? There are ways to scale I2C, I believe.

that’s odd. should be zero. workaround: you could offset the signal in the 301 to bring it back down to zero and fine tune the gain to adjust your throw range as needed.

Have a look at MINFADER and MAXFADER in config.h; it sounds like you might want to set MINFADER to 0; I forget why it isn’t.

Here is my build using laser cut panels by Okyeron. The finish is excellent and it has a nice hefty tangibleness to it. I had a couple of set-backs sourcing parts so I’d like to share what I came up with:

10mm M2.5 spacer: mouser #855-R25-1001002
6mm M2.5 M/F standoff: mouser #710-971060151
60mm slide pot: mouser #652-PTL60-15R0-103B2

All of those are in stock at the moment. I used the LED sliders, and they work as intended. It would be cool to mod them to make the LED’s addressable but maybe that’ll be a future project.

nice!

I wonder - you could probably free-wire a resistor between the voltage for each slider and the LED leg on the faders. Thus brightness of LED increases with fader position.

This might change the overall max voltage on the fader, but maybe not enough to worry about.

Stupid idea #2 - make a little protoboard with another MUX and freewire that to the teensy and each fader led - then you could pragmatically control all of them. :slight_smile:

I just finished the PCB last night and only one slider needs attention. Thanks to @infovore and the other contributors for packing the repo with tons of info and tips and @okyeron for organizing the pcb and panel group buy! This was my first SMD build and I’m amazed at how smoothly it went.
