OK Teletype folks, will this do:

That’s kindof perfect! Thanks, it will help people a lot.

I wonder if the teletype couldn’t be updated with stock cal values so it nominally works from the get-go… like TXo and TXi do.

On another note, the midi switch on the bottom of the 16n is there to choose between TRS-A and TRS-B, right? Which position is which? I have the Berlin AtoV version, but I think it is mostly the same.

Left is Korg/Makenoise, which I think is type a? Meaning right is type b (for Novation/Old Arturia)

Left from looking at the face, or at the back of the board?

Should probably have a step 3 “Slide all the faders to the very top.”

Looking down on the board from above. Original 16n:

Can’t speak for the AtoV version, I’m afraid.

Hi!
What did people use for the top and bottom visible screws for their 16n? I am looking for a blind 2.5 m screw or hidden type screw in black. Cant seem to find any online right now.

Edit: never mind found some https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/M2-M2-5-Black-Phillips-Cross-Countersunk-Head-Machine-Screws-Bolts-50-100-500-/332528658097

with countersunk panels, I just found 6mm M2.5 countersunk machine screws. Otherwise, 6mm M2.5 machine screws with panheads will do fine.

Hi for i2c and midi do we need to use stereo jacks or mono ? I got mono in my BOM but the PCB is stereo.

It needs to be stereo.

Broken trace pad killed the soldering star :star: :radio: :tv:

https://octopart.com/sj1-3523n-cui+devices-106234272 Ps is this the right one or incorrect? Just in case I do have the right one and I’m shooting myself in the foot!

Edit: I just need to learn how to read. It says stereo on the link 🤷 all good lol

Oh man, I was dorking around for an hour trying to figure this out! Thanks!

I hope this is the right thread to post this question in. I’m looking for a pre-built 16n and looked at the Michigan Synth Works XVI. On the product page it says explicitly that it is not a 16n, so I’m curious if there’s a resource someone can point me to that breaks down the differences?

My immediate goal for this is desktop use and patching the CV outs to various modules, not i2c at the moment. I would also like to connect to my Norns Shield. Does anyone know if the MSW XVI will behave differently in these scenarios than a 16n? If so I can definitely track down a proper 16n.

Thanks so much!

I’m not sure about the XVI, I looked into it too but having to edit the source code to make any configuration seems a bit archaic compared to the browser configurator of the 16n. No idea about the norns compatibility .

How about the atovproject 16n version? If you don’t want to go the DIY route, there is a commercial preassembled version with a case and everything. It’s using the original 16n firmware and therefore works with the configurator, norns etc
