Would there be an issue using offworld to power grid before going into 2>1 with 2>1 connected to power? To eliminate noise issues

that shouldn’t cause any issues.

i did some investigation on the keyboard that was reported not working with 2>1. i ordered the exact same model, and i’m not able to reproduce the issue. the person who reported the issue also confirmed the module works with another keyboard. at this point i have to conclude the issue was likely due to the keyboard itself.

mulling whether to buy and i’m sorry if this has been addressed…

does a 4MS row40 have 5v rail compatible with this module?
i think so but would rather not guess wrong

4ms row power does provide +5V - i use two > one in a case powered by row 40 myself and can confirm it works fine.

it should be noted row 30 does not provide sufficient power as grid can pull up to 600mA and row 30 is only rated for 0.5A on +5V: https://4mscompany.com/rowpow.php

row 40 provides 1.5A which is plenty, but, of course, this depends on whether you have other modules that might also draw power from +5V. always good to leave a healthy margin.

I just ordered the 2 to 1 module! Questions for anyone out there who uses one of these and the monome switch (or something like it):

-does it get confusing if you use both? Say, with 2 ansibles, arc, grid, teletype, keyboard and earthsea (seems like a wild ride to say the very least, but generally I’m using at least 2 of these.)

-does the 2 to 1 make plugging grid into teletype safe the same way the switch/offworld did? Seems like yes, but wasn’t sure. Also, if the arc and grid were switching back and forth from 2 to 1, should you be careful where you send the arc? (Like to Teletype)

-what is the best way to switch between two ansibles, earthsea, and teletype in 2019? not using all 4, but maybe 3? I mean, if I’m not concerned about power supplies, is the best way to switch between monome modules currently to use the monome switch, offworld, usb splitter with mods, or something like this, or hot swapping? Seems like most racks I’m seeing don’t even use the monome switch anymore. Not sure if this is by choice, or because it’s discontinued, or because of how annoying it gets when it stops working on certain modules mid-patch.

I decided to stop sequencing with my varigate 8 and Rene v2 and just use monome modules/voltage block/shuttle control. Not sure if it’ll do for drumming but so far so good. Mostly just confused if I should keep my switch.

i’ll let others comment on other points but wanted to clarify these two:

yes, it will power devices connected to it, which means you can use it to connect grids to oder versions of teletype that might not be able to provide enough power themselves.

of course, this means you need to make sure 2>1 itself gets enough power, since a grid can draw up to 600mA when fully lit. if you power it from eurorack, you have to make sure that your +5V rail has at least 600mA available, taking all your other modules that use +5 into account.

it’s possible teletype will act weird if you plug arc into it. i just tried it and it was fine, but again, since it doesn’t expect it there is a non zero chance something funny might happen that will require teletype to be power cycled. i doubt anything will get damaged though.

Thanks! I guess those are the only important points haha. :+1:t3:

heads up - i will be closing the online store tomorrow. there are still a few of these available, just PM me if you want one.

To answer the first question, I haven’t found it confusing at all, and I’ve found it great for the workflow with these things.

Highly recommended module for Teletype users. It’s 10x’d my workflow when building freaky apps and sequencers for Grid.

( I’m not involved in any way, just a fan )

got a few PMs about it - unfortunately, with what’s going on right now, i’m unable to ship any modules. i’ll post here when/if things get back to the point where it’s possible again.

for folks interested in two>one - i will be able to ship 2 weeks from now. after that it will be another 6 weeks before i can ship again.

sales from all remaining modules will be donated to Black Lives Matter related resources.

This looks perfect! But the shop at shopify doesn’t seem to work… is there another way or place to buy this?

yeah, just PM me and let me know what you need.
