256 discontinued in 2013

So the 256 was discontinued in 2013. May I ask why?
Was it production cost and only few buyers?
Was it that the 128 proved the best form/function factor?
I always thought about buying a 256 but was scared of using pages…
Every time I see somebody using one I think again :slight_smile:

it came down to limited time and resources. in particular, with monome’s move toward eurorack, the 128 was deemed to have the ideal size and utility. i can’t find all the archived threads on the subject, but here are a couple of them:
