Hmmm… if the teensy on the ipad side lights up, it means that it’s getting power and should be functional.

gonna do a quick test here with midiwrench…

Yeha - with my setup, twohost shows up directly in midiwrench after I plug in 2host. But… then the next time it does not show up. weird. Big iPad2 works fine. iPad Mini is not seeing 2host a second time. might be power related (like the mini decided it doesnt have enough juice to run the peripheral?)

so strange, I connected to my PC and opened up Reaper, and the 2host appeared. I used that as the input with awake and was able to capture Midi in Reaper as expected. I then plugged 2host back into the iPad and midi wrench just started working no problem… not sure what the issue was but it appears to be working now!
Now onto some 2host good times tonight - can’t wait to explore norns and fates together! exciting times for sure!!!
thanks again for some amazing tech wizardry

Excellent. Glad it is working now.

In my case - I ran the most recent iOS update on the iPad Mini and now 2host shows up normally when plugging/re-plugging a few times.

Perhaps iOS just needed a reboot?

I just built mine yesterday (first smd soldering), it works flawlessly between Norns and Ableton Live, thank you @okyeron.

Anyone made a case for it yet? I checked the ai files on GitHub, will try to laser cut one next week.

Just wondering what version of teensy is needed for one of these ?

Teensy LCs are what i’ve used. You could use 3.2s, but they’re more expensive.

Would a teensy 2.0 work ?

No - I dont think the teensy 2 will work. It’s a different pin layout.

hi @okyeron i’m about to build this, quick question, can i use a 5% tolerance resistor instead of 1%?

thanks

Should be fine. :+1:

I somehow have two 3.2 left from other projects - will it work with those ‘just so’ or is there something to adjust in the code? I won’t be able to so and order two LC’s then.

lemme double check the pin assignments…

yes - should work just fine with 3.2 (or 3.1/ 3.0 as well)

Great - Thank you for the support!

FIWW - you only need to solder the 3 pins on each side nearest the USB jack - these are marked in white on the silkscreen (on the black pcbs)

I say this partly to avoid extra unnecessary soldering, and also to make it easier to remove if needed

I just DMed you on insta – hope this isn’t a lost cause, can’t figure out any other way to connect Norns to ableton :frowning:

would ableton link suit your needs?

Hey there, glad to see you here. You made it to the right place! Just to confirm- you’re looking to actually send midi notes into Ableton from norns, is that correct?

Yeah, for that reason I don’t think Ableton Link would be enough right? I can link for tempo, but not for note sharing unless I’m ill-informed.

Edit::: got it working with the sevillasoft adapter. Needed to make sure the midi in ableton was setup correctly prior to connection to the norns end. Otherwise it was overloading and freezing. See pic below of midi setup that is working for me.

Yeah you are correct link is just clock infos. I have a shield and a usb host to host adapter and am not getting any consistent luck with sending midi notes to ableton yet. This is certainly a bummer ATM

Just soldered one of these together. Wondering if anyone has come up with an enclosure for it. I’d like to 3D print one if possible.
