Hopefully they also added the option to freeze multiple grouped tracks as well! (You can only freeze one group at a time currently — really annoying if you have a huge file full of groups and want to freeze everything!!)

maybe I misunderstand what you mean exactly but isn’t this what you’re after? This can also be automated…?

thats the parameter yeah but i would like to adjust it on the waveform itself like how one adjusts fades. I do alot of these adjustments and constantly moving to this slider is something i shouldnt need to keep doing.

It’s possible! Set the max volume with the gain slider, and then click the Show/Hide Envelopes Box at the bottom left, then you can choose Volume Modulation as an option.

Thanks but im talking about on the main timeline where I edit the audio. And not automation either.

ah yeah that’s a good point! Could be something that’s quite useful. Opening up an automation lane and drawing it in can be quite cumbersome and time-consuming for a lot of edits. Still, version 10 is incredible and I’m so glad I made the upgrade! You won’t be disappointed for sure

yeah it is looking better than when 10 first landed…maybe i should just request the feature. Im sure it is possible to arrive at some point release in this version. I just crave more workflow enhancements than new features. And the new zooming shortcuts are just that kinda thing ive been waiting for.

when you’re already on this topic, is it possible to view multiple automation lanes in one clip simultaneously? i often use midi cc as source for modulation but it often looks kind of empty, considering it holds like 40+ midi cc channels…
maybe there’s a m4l cc/automation viewer/editor already? the lack of internal modulation fluidity is striking on most daws still (why the need for mapping…), maybe renoise is the best, at least for audio “patching”? (need to have a go on the new bitwig)
in this day and age one would think daws easily could act as modular digital patch bays, at least internally.

I am, and it works great

Hi there,
ever since Live 10 Obo used in M4L with the Grid 256 tended to have the issue that Live often crashed while unloading, but now with 10.1 (beta) I cannot load Obo at all without Live immediately crashing. I obviously reported that bug to Ableton but they are unable to find the problem.
Is there anybody out there using the same combination successfully, and if so, how?
Is there an alternative to Obo which works in M4L with a 256 Grid? (and btw how do I find out the version of a m4l device?)
I’m gonna open a separate thread for this, but I’m getting my Arc4 soon-ish and ideally want to do step sequencing like in the original Plane video (https://youtu.be/OfFyvh_BGN8 ), is there a M4L device for that? I tried plane v mi p etc, but couldn’t find out how to achieve what I want.
I’m still fairly new to the whole Monome universe, so please bear with me if my questions sound redundant (I did search) or stupid
Thanks so much in advance and cheers from Cologne, Markus

Hi,

Anyone using a physical drum machine together with ableton live for live performances? What do you use? Can it be synced to ableton live tempo?

Yes. Frequently use it with external gear. Drum machine is usually digitakt. Syncs both ways with either Ableton or digitakt as main clock from what I remember. Also use my iPad with it syncing with Ableton Link

anything that takes MIDI clock will sync just fine, which is a lot of drum machines.

For me, sync sounded best when Driver Error Compensation was turned all the way into the negative until “Overall Latency” was 0. That was about -14ms.

I haven’t seen that much excitement about it yet but I’m pretty excited for the CV Tools update. Maybe other folks are already using Max or Reaktor for this? Regardless, It’s nice to see it integrated into Live directly (although still via Max for Live).

I did some testing of the triggers/clocking section of it today and got things (mostly) working!

This is very cool! I’m actually most excited about the possibilities for using the CV Tools internally, since I enjoy thinking about modulation in terms of CV, but I’m not sure how frequently I want to cable-spaghetti my audio interface and modular together.

I guess this definitely lets me clock Kria from Ableton, though

My interface has ADAT outputs and inputs so I think I’ll pick up a ES-3 again. I actually picked my interface with the idea of using an ES-3 and Silent Way but I never gelled with the SW software. The ES-3 worked flawlessly though and definitely reduces the amount of cable spaghetti.

I love my ES-8, either as a standalone USB audio interface, or as an ADAT extender to my RME audio interface. Can’t think of a more compact way to add so much high quality I/O to a setup.

Not to turn this into an Expert Sleepers thread, but assuming I used it as an ADAT expander and not standalone, are there any advantages to the ES-8 over the ES-3/ES-6 combo that you know of other than size?

If that is the scenario you gonna be using these in, you actually get 2 more inputs with the es3+es6 combo than with the es8 only.
