When it opens again, create a crash report, go to that folder and unzip the contents of said crash report. I’m on my phone right now but iirc there should be a log file on the preference folder.
Open that log file and scroll to the end (it contains all crashes for that version) and work your way up. Depending on the kind of crash, so plugin or M4l patch is not always mentioned.
Re not instantiated plugins: nope, they won’t crash ONCE they have been successfully scanned.

Does anyone know of a m4l device or plugin that can pitchshift vocals live in the same way that ableton‘s complex warp algorithm does? In my next D&D session, I‘ll have to roleplay a giant and I‘d love for his voice to have some more oomph. :laughing: or is there a way to access the complex pro algorithm as a live effect?

I already tried a few things in the m4l pitch & time package but it just sounds like I‘m a criminal that is trying to hide their identity.

not m4l devices, but perhaps you should look info formant shifting plugins. there is one free that i know of, mautopitch by melda (only available in their free bundle). it’s also a tuning plugin, but if you just set it to the slowest settings and all notes perhaps the tuning isn’t so audible. other paid alternatives are vocalsynth from izotope, manipulator from polyverse, elastique pitch from zplane or little alter boy from soundtoys. they’re a bit costly but have demos, and all of them allows you to pitch shift and formant shift independently… which is what i think you want to do.

I‘ll have a look, thank you! Yeah, maybe I should have been more precise, I‘m looking to deepen my voice while still sounding natural. Should have jumped on that soundtoys sale a few weeks ago.

sure, while not sounding perhaps as good as the live complex algorithm, using a formant shifter to compensate after a pitch shifter can get you a good result. so first you pitch it down, then formant shift it up. all the plugins i mentioned can do just that : )
