Here are two logos that are higher resolution but should be of the same proportion as the original. These ones are transparent as well so they should be able to work with the darker theme.

Here are two lower resolution ones if that will work better. ( I don’t know if discord has a max resolution for the icons)

Ah the nerdiest design thread. Love it. If you do use stylish / user styles, I created a few small css tweaks to get the thread update bubbles (blue circles) looking better, and to shift away from the orange ‘view count’ numbers.

.topic-list .badge-notification {
    border-radius: 100em;
    line-height: 2.4;
    display: inline-block;
    min-width: 20px;
    padding: 2px;
    font-size: .5em;
    min-height: 20px;
    font-weight: 100;
    color: #ffffff;
}
.nav-pills > li.active > a, .nav-pills > li > a.active {
    color: #222;
    background-color: #c26790;
}
.heatmap-high, .heatmap-high a, .heatmap-med, .heatmap-med a {
    color: #c26790 !important;
}

As a dark theme addict, I switched immediately, but I’m having second thoughts. Before, lines was the Good Place and twitter was the Bad Place, and now they look the same. Not sure how I feel about this.

Regardless, it looks great, thanks everyone involved!

I agree w/ this on a psychological level. But the eye strain…

awesome 20characters of sauce!

is it a discourse feature to switch between themes based on MacOS 10.14 light/dark mode?

I noticed—and this probably means I have some mild astigmatism—that I preferred the dark theme for having Lines open on my screen in the evening, but for reading longer posts I found my eyes wandering more readily in the dark theme.

Regardless, cheers to everyone for making this possible!

I much preferred the orange, but that’s me…

I love this. Thank you for the option.

My bookmark just got weird… It looks like Apple made the background of transparent icons default to black.

Enjoying the dark theme quite a bit so far :slight_smile:

Is this only on the desktop version or am I being a fool? (‘Both’ is a valid answer)

Works for me on mobile as well :slight_smile:

we enabled dark mode a couple of years ago. last year, i added a theme component that let users enable automatic light/dark mode theme switching, based on their device settings.

that component is now deprecated, so i removed it. automatic light/dark theme switching is now built into Discourse core, as of 2.6.0beta2 (our current version).

logged-in users can still disable the automated theme switching, as well as statically set the light or dark theme across all their devices. go to Profile > Preferences > Interface.

bonus: non-logged-in users are also no longer greeted by blinding brightness when browsing late at night, if they’re using a dark theme on their device. the forum’s theme now switches to match their device’s theme, whether dark or light.
