Selling a BIA in the UK if anyone’s interested.

So, i spotted a varigate going for way less than I’d thought i could pick it up. Therefore purchased. Its the non cv one, but i really wanted to use it for probability based sequencing of drums. Just need the drum modules!!! Id love to use the 808 or drumulator modules from https://dspsynth.eu/webshop/ but have never dealt with company before and there are many negative threads on mw. Anyone on here have experience buying from there?

I don’t do so much drum related stuff, but had a great time with Braids and meta mode when I had one. I really liked to modulate the fm input with Voltages from Music Thing:

Another module I used to bring drum samples into and also use together with Turing machine and its expanders was Radio Music:

Would love to see some of those ER-301 drum synth patches, any chance you’d be interested in sharing them over on the O|D forum?

This definitely has my attention; I’d prefer 3U though, I imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult to convert them?

As far as I know they will be released as kits so I’d guess it’s possible. What I really like is they fit both pulp logic and intellijel 1u, hence the cut out for the screw.

Ooh, this topic hasn’t been touched in over a year. Maybe we can get it rolling again? Anyone have good experiences with the WMD Chimera and/or, especially, the WMD Fracture? I’ve been checking them out, and pondering them as percussive voices in my 182HP setup. Also looking at some Noise Engineering, a pair of Rings, and some other stuff.

I particularly like the fracture. It certainly has a sound, but it’s incredibly fun to modulate, and also is great for layering with/replacing snares in my experience.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m digging its sound for sure.

That Endorphines BLCK_NOIR looks pretty great if it’s a sound you’re into.

I haven’t tried the Fracture (which looks cool), but didn’t really get on with the Chimera. I think the synthesis approach might work better for clap type sounds.

You can’t go wrong with the Noise Engineering stuff, in any case!

in my opinion, drums with modular is hard. have to go all the way in. I ended up with an assimili8or and using samples is amazing for me.

Yeah, I’ve got an ER-301 and have been triggering drum samples from it. Trying to sort out the best approach. Thanks for that reminder.

4ms STS + DLD + 301 = happy happy joy joy.

I have the Fracture - as the previous poster says, it’s great for layering with other sounds.

I’m going to keep it for this reason - it can really help to fill out a basic drum groove, add little accents and interest etc. And it’s nicely responsive to CV.

My criticism is that I’m not 100% sure all the waveforms/samples in it are truly useable. A couple of them are perhaps too recognisable, if that makes sense to you?

Do you like using the ER-301 that way? I’ve been considering that for a very long time, and I would love an opinion. I picked up a Sample Drum recently as a kind of half-way, which I haven’t quite dug into yet, but will take some learning. ER-301 chains seems really intuitive to me, but I’m also heistant to “use it up” with drums?

I wish the Blck_Noir was smaller, but it’s hard to imagine letting go of even if I don’t keep it racked permanently. As @freqout noted tho, you need to dig it’s sound (which I do). I usually want more umf to my kick tho, but it layers really nicely with other drums. The onboard effects and aux input are nice.

My drums are coming on nicely now. I really love omsonics range so far. I have their Pixel Dust (Hat) and OUCH (snare) modules. Really tweakable and if/when the bass drum module is released I will be picking it up. I have the Erica Pico which is versatile but I prefer the character of the omsonic stuff. The sample tracks on the nerdseq are also really useful and probably why I am not giving the Pico drums morenlove.

It’s been good. Any hesitation to use the ER-301 for percussion comes down to two things: (1) not maxing out its CPU, as I’m also using it primarily to process live guitar and sometimes live voice, and (2) my low-level skills (thus far).

Some people are also talking about the latency, but it isn’t an issue to me.

Latency in the ER-301? I haven’t experienced it myself, but I’ll keep an ear out for it. Thanks.
