ALEPH CORE SCENES

Scene with 4 presets for overlapping looping and faux granulation

Requirements

ALEPH, BEES 0.8.1, (standard lines for SIMPLE scene, and updated versions of lines for VARISPEED scene)

Documentation

(better documentation to follow if people require it…)

basic setup…

  • delay buffers always sample from ADC 0 and ADC 1, plug something into them
  • DAC 1 is used as an FX send, with ADC 2 + 3 as a stereo return
  • ADC 2 + 3 are permantently connected to DAC 2 + 3, route them somewhere else if needed…
  • in all modes holding down SW4 acts routes the encoders to FX mixing duties which are
—ENC0 : sends ADC0+1 to DAC1 (for sending input to FX)
    —ENC1 : sends del0 buffer to FX
—ENC2 : sends FX into both delay buffers
    —ENC3 : sends del1 buffer to FX

in use

[ SCENE ] SIMPLE:

  • load one of the first four presets to start (LOOP, GRAIN, GRIP, LoMetro)

LOOP - a dual buffer looper

  • ENC0 - del0 pitch (see pitch notes below)
  • ENC1 - del0 loop length
  • ENC2 - del1 pitch (see pitch notes below)
  • ENC3 - del1 loop length
  • FS1 - rec del0
  • FS2 - rec del1
  • SW1 - start/stop reading del0
  • SW2 - start/stop reading del1
  • SW3 - holding down swaps to LOOP_ALT preset where
    -----ENC0 - del1 level into del0
    -----ENC1 - del0 pre
    -----ENC2 - del0 level into del1
    -----ENC3 - del1 pre

(n.b. i notice in LOOP that i saved the scene with del1-del1 up… whoops… will get messy, turn it back to -inf… store in the loop preset and resavr the scene is probably best… i’ll re-upload scenes when I have checked for other inconsistencies… let me know if you find any)

GRAIN - faux granular

  • ENC0 - del0 pitch (see pitch notes below)
  • ENC1 - randomise amount for grain position
  • ENC2 - speed of grains
  • ENC3 - speed of read position movement
  • FS1 - rec del0
  • FS2 - overdub del0
  • SW1 - sed del0 into del1
  • SW2 - start/stop reading del1
  • SW3 - holding down swaps to GRAIN_ALT preset where
-----ENC0 - del0 loop length ( !!IMPORTANT, THIS ALSO SETS READ LENGTH, SET THIS !)
    -----ENC1 - del1 delaytime
    -----ENC2 - del1 pitch
    -----ENC3 - del1 feedback

GRIP - simple stutter

  • ENC0 - del0 pitch (see pitch notes below)
  • ENC1 - del0 metro speed of stutter
  • ENC2 - del1 pitch (see pitch notes below)
  • ENC3 - del1 metro speed of stutter
  • FS1 - grab and stutter del0
  • FS2 - grab and stutter del1
  • SW1 - chooses toggle mode for FS1
  • SW2 - chooses toggle mode for FS2
  • SW3 - holding down swaps to GRIP_ALT preset where
-----ENC0 - turns on/off metro for randomisation of stutter speed
-----ENC1 - amount of speed random for del0 stutter
-----ENC2 - speed of new random values
-----ENC3 - amount of speed random for del1 stutter

L0-metro - bit flakey, use with caution

pretty much same as LOOP except that is uses metros rather than buffer loop length, produces interesting differences and glitches…

[ SCENE ] VARISPEED:

same as above except that it uses the varispeed version of lines by @skektek … I think to make this work you’ll need to name it as linesnew before loading it onto the SDcard (that’s what my scenes will be looking for, also then you won’t wipe over the standard lines ). the pitch control for all of above changes to a smooth shift.

[NOTES] PITCHES:

In the SIMPLE scene I use the standard speed mul and dev to change pitch. To make life easier there are a set of presets that change the pitches the encoders move through, you’ll find them half way down the preset list. Recall any of them to change the pitch options (won’t affect the preset you’re currently using until you turn a pitch ENC)

  • STAN : my normal set, does some 5ths and octaves and a bit of lofi crunch
  • TONAL : weirder set of intervals
  • LOFI : as gritty as it gets
  • REV : not implemented yet.

####[EXTRA] MIDI :
There is a bit of MIDI implementation here too if it’s useful for you.
Send CC messages on channel 16 using controllers 22 - 27 and you’ll see the results  ) … to hear the filters you’ll need to adjust the fdry and fwet settings though as they’re off by default in this scene.

thank you so much!

this might seem obvious but…where is each version of lines?
[also, just to confirm the zip contains simple.scn + varispeed.scn]

FYI just added this edit…
‘i notice in LOOP that i saved the scene with del1-del1 up… whoops… will get messy, turn it back to -inf… store in the loop preset and resave the scene is probably best… i’ll re-upload scenes when I have checked for other inconsistencies… let me know if you find any)’
