I caught Deathprod at a festival in Oslo last year, he played that track you linked. It was so intensely loud, quite something!
Neneh Cherry played just before or after him on the same stage and Patti Smith was headlining - very mixed bill!

A few recommendations for drone, none of whom exclusively make drones but, when they do, are very good:

Nurse With Wound - Salt Marie Celeste
Organum - Omega
Gastr Del Sol - The Harp Factory on Lake St
Pelt - Ayahuasca

Which one did you post? Seems not to play for me.

This is amazing though:

Thanks!

I posted the second one titled /\ , sorry not to have made that clear!

I originally came across the piece on an NTS mix put together by Kali Malone, which has some other great drone too:

I’ve made a piece with the two function generators I posted a photo of earlier in the thread.

Thank you for sharing there are some really rich textures here. I love it.

Here’s about an hour worth of slow drones

Recorded using Bhob Rainey’s Xynthi Supercollider instrument running on an old Powerbook G4, recorded from the headphone output. My Macbook charger is a poorly grounded off-brand one, so it introduced a lot of hiss and I even picked up very faint piano notes in the second piece from what I can only assume was radio interference. Enjoy.

Lovely sounds.
Did you use the recently shared Xynthi (dropbox link)? Which OS is your G4 running on?

Recently was recording a lot of drone like tracks that I’ve decided to slowly release as an ongoing project. Here is the first release of that project. Hope it is related

i had the great pleasure to see him live several times, including with Faust, and each performance was magical - especially in the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern in London, where he played on the bridge behind a giant full-height white sheet upon which his image was projected… ah, what a treat that was.

I’ll have to see if I can find any photos from that gig.

Mostly done with the aid of at least one MS-20, I understand.

This might also be of interest, featuring Michael York who played various acoustic drone instruments with Coil live and on record as well, and a couple of Fenixes:

Thank you. I used a dropbox link shared on Twitter, yes. It’s running 10.3.9.

I’ve been thinking of adding a frequency shifter to my modular setup. Think it might be great drone tool? Any recommendations or sound clips?

I have the Deflector Shield. I haven’t fully explored it yet, but my impression so far is that it’s fairly subtle. Which is often what you want in a drone.

I know Jliat mainly for his funny/incoherent Vital Weekly reviews and for arguing with him at length with him about theories regarding measuring the ‘harshness’ of noise and had almost forgot he’s actually made a load of drone stuff in the past, a recommendation on a noise forum for his “16:05:94” lead me to this page on his site where you can download some" http://www.jliat.com/drones/drones.html

He once sent me a whole box of copies of his LP ‘May’ which is two sides of near-identical ultra minimal drone made I think using some general midi instrument sound?

I use the Hordijk freq shifter in nearly every drone I put together, it’s a nifty effect.

I made a quick demo of a simple drone, dry, then at :15, out of the up/down (right/left) of the frequency shifter. The effect is subtle when the shift rate is low, and gets less subtle as the rate approaches audio. In this, I just kind of explored mid-ranges to show what that can sound like.

Thanks so much the demo, kind from you to take the time to do that! Seems something I really could use on my system. Is it the 5u dual freq shift module or something else you’re using here?

We had a little fun recently on an atypical rungler outing. Al, the other half of The Chalk Group, had been listening to The Necks the day before, and come up with an interesting tuning on his guitar. We then transposed this to 4 Benjolins and a Blippoo box, and tried to take our time…

Mine’s a combination wave shaper and frequency shifter, the two functions being completely separate in terms of audio path and CV.

This is really fantastic, thanks for sharing!
