I recently picked up a double knot v2 and can confirm that 10" cables are plenty long. In fact, I just picked up a few 5" cables for shorter connections. It’s been a ton of fun so far. It’s still very much an interesting mystery machine, but actually somewhat intuitive. patch outs to ins, punch in some patterns and repeat. Add some FX and off you go.

edit to add - check out modularaddict.com for banana cables, if you’re in the USA. They fit the DK nicely. They are stiff though, so they stand straight up. That could be a pro or a con, depending on your preference. So far, I have no complaints.

Side note: naturally, I have a cocoquantus on the way to add to my little banana farm (Double Knot 2, Benjolin). I have found a lot of enjoyment in the process of twisting knobs and patching cables – something almost meditative. I know that sounds a bit fluffy, but it’s a different workflow to my usual suspects (elektron gear). Now to see if I can marry the two sides together in some way. Ok, I’m done hijacking the thread.

Shoot - I saw your post about modularaddict cables just a couple of minutes too late! Those seem to be the least expensive banana cables out there. Oh well, I like Control and am happy to give them my money.

I’m definitely looking forward to patching this thing!

FWIW it’s worth I used to have the same setup (banana plus elektron). You can use a format jumbler to take a CV signal from the Octatrack to the Coco (don’t quote me here it’s been a minute) flip and/or skip to get a loose sync to record into Octatrack and sample/mangle to your heart’s content.

Octatrack doesn’t put out CV (unless there’s some kind of hack I’m not aware of!), but thanks for the tip. For the moment, I’m probably good for a while exploring the new stuff in their own bubbles. I have some ideas about possible pairings and mixing though.

hey this looks really cool! do you have any sound examples?

I told you it’s been a minute  must have been Analog Four? Anyway lots of fun combos to be had. I did an album of deconstructed dance music with Machinedrum into Coco that was lots of fun.

Haha - no worries. Yes, it was likely the A4. That’s the only elektron I know of that spits out proper CV. Ooh - is that album online anywhere (e.g. bandcamp)? That sounds very interesting.

I would also like to hear this album, please.

First chance to really play with my Lorre Mill set up today. What beautiful machines. Just wanted to share it with you all.

Many thanks to @Allieway_Audio for her videos too. Super helpful! :grinning:

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

One more banana related question: I was hoping to use some banana plugs as touch plates the way @Allieway_Audio does in her overview video. It seems like these would work but I’m wondering if folks have other recommendations? Here are the plugs in question:

I have a few of those that I use with my Ciat-lonbarde stuff! Works a treat

which banana cables are these? I like the colors, do you like how they fit and everything?

It’s a mix of Pomona (the dark green and yellow), buchla (purple, light green, orange and light blue), and modular addict (red, white, yellow, dark blue, cool green/blue color).

The pomonas and buchlas fit pretty much the same, almost surprisingly tight lol. The pomona cables are a bit stiffer than the buchlas.

The modular addict cables are thinner, and much less stiff but with a coating that makes them pleasing to touch. They also have a noticeably looser fit in comparison to the others. Not in a bad way, but definitely noticeable.

You could also search for used laboatory cables (4mm) which can be found for very little money sometimes.

I was trying to patch the doubleknot2 with the plumbutter2 but it seams they are not very compatible in terms of pulses and clocks.
Then i patched a korg volca in between and got a 24 step shift register.
dk2>volca>pb2.
Maybe it is because the ciat lonbarde stuff is geared towards resisances and not so much about voltages.

Has anyone around here tried pairing Lorre Mill with Serge?

As far as I understand, LM into Serge should be fine, but the other way around could be problematic because LM can only handle positive voltages, right?

I’ve used my LM stuff with Serge. It’s all good other than watching out for feeding negative voltage to the LM, like you said.

I made this yesterday with the Double Knot v2 and some eurorack. Double Knot should be easy to spot since I left the voices panned left and right (although with a fair amount of delay). Euro is playing in its own time using Hemispheres’ RungleBook app with two cross modulate vcos feeding the rungler and vice versa along with some other things in the mix.

Sounds great! Are the quick, kind of woodpecker sounds the runglebook app or are you somehow triggering quick repeated envelopes in the double knot?

Thanks! Assuming I’m understanding which sounds are the most woodpecker-like - those were created with the Double Knot. The Double Knot v2 has a looping envelope function that I’m still trying to understand properly but it’s able to produce bursts of short decay envelopes. I believe I was modulating the decay time with gates produced by the XOR output but I’m not 100% positive. The DK is definitely great for happy accidents, especially when I don’t totally understand the layout yet.

Ah interesting, I have a v1 and hadn’t heard any sounds like those. Nice work!
