finally, never been this excited for a module before, ALM is definitely my fav euro player.

a 2hp individual-outputs expander would be a no-brainer!

Likewise, though I became taken with the Assimil8or a week ago and placed an order. It should be arriving today! I’m excited for the additional CV control but will keep an ear out about the squid.

If I recall correctly somebody asked about it on instagram and I think it is i2c expander port.
EDIT: I remembered correctly https://www.instagram.com/p/Bzxs2aJhPCt/comments/

Dang, was hoping to replace my Nebulae with this, but it’s 21HP. Whyyyyyyy :joy:

Can you imagine what you could do connecting The Yet To Be Released Crow and the Newly Released Squid via i2c …

Was at the demo at ctrl in Brooklyn a few months ago, I can say that it is very capable and the live sampling works quite well.

Things to note:
-11 second sample time (by design, hardware can likely handle more)
-Mono
-bit rate/sample rate/play rate adjustments but no time stretch with current firmware

As a sampler, very cool.

ooh that’s too bad: this thing just begs to be combined with their MUM M8 filter for some early 90s jungle sounds and that early s950 timestretch is essential for that sound

from the manual:

Each channel can have various parameters edited all in real time; bit depth, rate, lo fi playback speed/pitch, amplitude level with a simple envelope, looping with crossfade, playback direction, start, end and loop ‘cue’ positions, multiple cue groups and more.

so then, i read “lo fi playback speed/pitch” as trad transposition-based speed & pitch change. “maybe” a “time stretch”-ish thing could be accomplished by moving the “start” position around while hitting a channel with audio rate to trigger playback fast enough? total speculation.

I’m just starting my journey into the eurorack world.

I was looking to add some percussion modules (kick/snare/hh). The :squid: Salamplellr can easilly replace the 3 dedicated drum modules like the TT or 2hp I was thinking of. It will be a litlle more pricey but you still have a lot of room to add some bleeps and blops in your music.

Prok drums tho!

But tbh this is a contender yea

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the bitbox yet, as that seems a direct competitor.

Got mine a few days and LOVE it… Paired with the MUM M8, now everything sounds like an early 90’s jungle 12"… bliss

I’m dreaming of direct access to all parameters through something like the 16n controller

Is this thing in stock anywhere??

Apparently you can find it only at some stockists in the UK.
I have asked some shops here in Switzerland and they have no information when they will be delivered. Perhaps Matthew will have more info.

One difference other than workflow: My ER-301 doesn’t have DC-coupled outs

I message alm and the squid does indeed have i2c but the owner hasn’t written any command for it yet :frowning:

waiting patiently though as the 16n is amazing with cv control of the cues, loops, speed and bit rate etc.

I2c would be the icing on the cake
