Okā€¦so I added Anaphora to my Ableton folders but, when I dropped it onto a track, I got this crazy greyed out look and the grid was not lighting up as if it could not be recognised.

agh this is exactly why I despise updating these things. max is very grouchy / unpredictable sometimes.

just did a series of random actions to try and address. try again ?

Now that seems to work. If you use the level knob it can give just the wet signal by muting the input. That suits my needs fine but I think it has caused some other issue with the code because you can now select multiple speeds at the same time. The speed of the visual playheads seems to alter but the sound behaviour seems different. Previously, selecting the slowest speed dropped the sound pitch noticeably (the Hainbach button) but now it doesnā€™t seem to.

iā€™ll check it out, thanks ! I havenā€™t tested it at all + I mightā€™ve goofed while copying and pasting stuff from the 128 grid version. is the pitch control just not mapped to the same octaves as before? I donā€™t fully even remember how this thing works

Iā€™m reviving this topic because i would love to try this app after reading all the topic and as i bought a Grid about a month ago, but seems iā€™m the only one that is having super quick Live crash when i try to import the m4l patch in Ableton?

Iā€™m on Live10 with Mojave.
So sad :frowning:

same specs here so iā€™ll quickly see if i can load it up - m4l can be verrrry tricky sadly w/ some of the less common features i used in my apps, some folks have had issues with this app in particular that iā€™ve never been able to reproduce or diagnose : /

Strange behaviour hereā€¦ i was actually able to load Anaphora since my post here and use it for a hour (iā€™ve tried to load Anaphora not at first place but after opening few more Ableton instruments and another Max patch), then i 've closed Ableton and relaunch it with your app but the crash occurred several times now, iā€™ve tried to open it in several ways : before/after other instruments or Max patches, but nopeā€¦

And then after few other tries I understood that only if i launch Anacronism and deleting it before launching Anaphora, Anaphora works and doesnā€™t crash Ableton

ahh - that might be a clue, i never used them both together and some of their resources could have name conflicts (bc of weird mysterious things happening behind the scenes). can you confirm if they both load fine in empty projects?

there might be a fix, thanks for the solid reporting : )

I didnā€™t use both together actually, but When I open a new project I have to launch Anacronism and then delete it before launching Anaphora to let it works.
I hope it might be helpful and thank you!

EDIT: to answer clearly to your question: Anacronism launches well in an empty project and Anaphora also but only after launching Anacronism first and then deleting it.

ah, well I actually am getting a crash no matter what, so not really sure whatā€™s going on after all, as I know for sure this worked in earlier versions of live 10 :-/

I could probably figure this out but these tend to be really frustrating problems to solve as I donā€™t know whatā€™s going on behind the scenes & what mightā€™ve changed in an update, not sure if I have the bandwidth for it right now - maybe try contacting customer support or try the cycling74 slack ? my guess is the javascript dependencies are causing the issue but I could be wrong. sorry, I wish I could be more helpful :- ( itā€™s starting to dawn on me that I may not be able to keep prosody around forever which makes me kind of sad

(fwiw: thereā€™s no crash when you drop it into max standalone (free trial works fine) )

Hello ! Thanks for this cool app This is the funniest live looping monome app I used to see <3. I have the same crash mentionned by lleicamun on Mojave + Live 10.1. Loading Anachronism before Anaphora help me to solve the crash but it does not work when saving and reloading a Live set.

Anyone found the origin of the crash ? If not, do you know an app as easy to use as Anaphora for live looping with live input ?

@Yakie maybe try this ? my solution to this issue may just be re-releasing anaphora as a stand-alone app rather than a live device. fwiw in my experience grid stability in live has felt mixed in general. slightly annoying but you can always use soundflower or jack to route in & out of live (with the benefit of being able to run older versions of max once compatibilities break, etc)

& i mean, anachronism is a live input looper as well (itā€™s my follow up to anaphora kinda) & for wherever reason does not crash live to my knowledge despite similar dependencies

Thank you Andrew ! Yep I will try the standalone. My BabyFace will perfectly for routing between Max and Live. Regarding anachronism, I must admit that I am rather in love with Anaphora because of its live record pattern feature :grinning: . Thanks again for this great app !
