ive got a potentially stupid question - where’s ā€œTimbreā€ on JF? And on the demo i
was copping alot of noise/static. is anyone else noticing this or is it my internet connection? (Australia - 55th worst internet in the world"!

So no one can here this noise? its driving me nuts!

I don’t really know what you mean - in between the tones I hear no noise that I would not assume to be intentional.

At the very start before anything is patched there is a noise/static, like the codec or my connection. This is what im trying to work out. it stops when there are program changes so it may be Vimeo…ive tried on a couple devices and even my TV and it seems the same…no biggie, just wondering if im going madder than i
thought

i hear it

seems intentional…part of the music (but made me chuckle because there was a small firestorm about something similar when isms debuted and i assumed @tehn was trolling)

if we’re talking about the same thing, the character exits the stage at precisely 4:16

fyi
there is definitely something patched offscreen when the clip starts

you’re aren’t totally losing it

also wondering about this

hahah. @tehn the troll. That’s definitely intentional noise and certainly one of the ranges of timbre you can get into particular when audio-rate triggering from another source.

Obviously there is more of the demo to come - ill be waiting to see if its better audio quality - intentional or not i found it super distracting. ive got all the Mannequins and there are so many more useful tones than the one used to show all this off…im god damn hooked though on the friction
im also guessing theres way more cool things than friction to come? i have a 128VB but im seriously considering Ansible and Arc - and i dont think theyre that expensive either for what your buying

i must admit to no foresight of anything ironic in the sonic selection. JF makes super great sounding noise-- this was featured at many shows during the tour with @instantjuggler last month.

but to put eurorack modular demo videos in perspective, you need to have a lot of pre-education. for example, knowing that having a 0-10v CV output pretty much means you can control anything, whatever you want, etc. by having it control the ā€œtimbreā€ of noise it’s a perfectly abstract representation of musical possibilities.

thank god every demo video doesn’t control the filter cutoff.

i just didnt know if the noise was from my end or codec or intentional…i also got confused by the patching to ā€œtimbreā€ on JF as i cant find that function on mine so i guess you meant ā€œgeneralā€ timbre of the piece playing at the time?
Cant wait to see the rest of the demo - i really cant stop thinking of the possibilities with the grid, arc, ansible and the rest of my modular…

it will work, but you’d be missing a lot. there’s not an immediately smart way to change the interface-- but this could possibly be addressed once the module gets out into the world and things settle down.

first batch of arc shipments went out today! thank you for your patience as we climb this mountain of factory work.

So not that I know any of this stuff but how much memory is at disposal for alt firmwares? How many apps can this thing hold - let’s say making a firmware which omitts arc modes entirely in favour of four (or more) grid modes?

Let’s say someone was to purchase an arc and a single today. Any rough estimate when it would ship? Speaking for a friend of course…
