No new news yet. My brainstorming has gotten clearer, but wont start programming until I finish my PhD thesis (nearly done!).

opened up party van again and have been enjoying it immensely. can’t wait for a karma-ridden 2.0

but take your time! and good luck with the thesis.

One thing that used to give me problems on load is the DAC. If I tried to open TPV by double click it would freeze and crash a few seconds after load. My workaround is to open the audiostatus.maxpat from the main max folder first and then turn on the audio and select my driver. Then when I open TPV it works perfectly. It could be just my particular setup, but it works on 2 computers with 2 different interfaces.

Good luck, the effort is worth it!

thanks! thing is that i just can’t find the audiostatus.maxpat though.

If you are in the full version of Max, it’s under the setup menu.

ha. sometimes i act stupid. // it’s still the same anyway. god i miss tpv so much.

Got the same problem, TPV crashes as I try opening it. Latest version of Max 7 and Max 6, same issue with both. Running El Capitan. Will try the editing audiostatus.maxpat and see if it does some magic.

I’ve not tested it in ElCap yet, so that might be the issue, but it should work in Max6 fine. Do try having the DSP on ahead of time to see if that helps.

i’ve tried to run tpv in both yosemite and el capitan + today i was messing with dsp settings. no success. weird thing is that everything was working perfectly.

Hey @Rodrigo,

did anyone manage to connect a 128 monome? I don’t get it. Whatever I do it won’t recognise it. Even if I try to connect it as proposed as a monom 64. Can you help me?

It should work fine as is, it would just be half of a 128.

Have you used it with a 64?
Have you used your 128 with another app?

Thank you. Got it working. As always by trial and error.
How is the work on TPV v.2? Any news? I bet I am not the only one craving for it
And is there any chance for Max7 compatibility?

Great!
Was actively working on it this week finally. Lots of sketches, and some patching.

Got some really cool ideas about slice tilting (where you can select whether the 16 slices of the buffer playback will be linear, or skewed towards the front or back), also being able to select/change buffers on the fly, and other quirky features.

It will be built in Max7 and definitely isn’t going to have everything from TPV1. I’m basically building it around the things I find most useful, and things I want to use now.

The interface is going to be less page-oriented and be closer to the newer monome modules with alt keys and a more dynamic overall mapping (less “128 individual buttons”).

A big addition will which be central to tpv2 will be a proto-compositional preset navigating thing. Think of it as mlr meets presets/behaviors meets teletype where you can quickly (as in, before a performance) type out the types of presets/behaviors you want to go through, and what criteria will make them move on, and if they will morph or not (so wanting to start with preset5, then after 50 loud sounds and if something below 330hz happens, then it morphs to preset2 etc…, while having mlr-ish control over the preset steps, so you can setup formal jumps/loops/repeats). I’m really excited about it, and hopefully it won’t take too long to have a functional version I can post.

Kind of like Breaktweaker’s microedit “tension”?

I often love preset morphing, sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Yeah kind of, but presets in this case means more than effect settings, it will be app wide behaviors (a juiced up version of the auto sampling row from page1 of party van).

So a preset will be a whole performance setup.

oh great can’t wait for that!

Man I can’t wait for TPV 2.0
I thought about getting a Make Noise Systeme Concrete for real time speech processing but TPV does all of it and even better. I hope the 2.0 version will be the core of my performance, a mix between poetry, processed speech and music. @Rodrigo tell us if you need beta testers ok?

Will do. Been working on it a lot this week. It’s not massively far from having a kind of functional beta of the core samplers.

A working plan at the moment is once I’ve figured out some of the mappings and stuff is to release something like “The Party Sampler” or TPV1.5 or something, that just has 8 of the core samplers with no fx or anything. Mainly been working on the mapping/interface for that stuff, and have some things that people will really get in to.

Great news buddy! :control_knobs::control_knobs::control_knobs::control_knobs::control_knobs:

Here’s an example of the “tilt” stuff I’m working on. You can record a sample and jump around mlr-style, but I was thinking that for the most part, I don’t need (or want) perfectly even slices, so I can have the slices be linear, or 6 flavors of tilt (3 different ease in and out functions), so the playhead moves differently, and you can jump differently too.

This will be changeable dynamically, including changing tilt on the fly with a pattern playing back. This should allow some pretty funky non-linear slicing action.

Here are the ease in/out functions:

Along with what they look like:
