Oh wow, thanks for the kind words!

PM away, happy to answer any questions that I can

Is there a list of purely in-the-box norns applications anywhere?

edit: do you mean what applications on in the OS install or what scripts are available?

os: basically raspbian lite with supercollider added
scripts: see the Library category here on lines

I think in the box means scripts not dependent on other hardware.

there isn’t a category system like that.

I think a repo with sub modules could be a useful community project

Yeah, what @zebra said.

Now that I have one of these in my hand, the thought of being able to use the norns by itself to compose/perform music is indeed very compelling. It would be great to use/study what has been done already.

From an HCI standpoint, I feel like you could get a lot of expressive control out of the norns’ limited interface, at the expense of maybe a bit more cognitive load. The form factor is also very intriguing too. Like, does anyone use it like a handheld console? When you hold it with a portrait orientation, it looks/feels like a martian gameboy. Seems like you could build some interesting applications around that.

Greetings,

Hope everyone is doing well…
I was wondering if anybody knew what marimbas were used to make the Norns demo on the monome.org homepage?
Would appreciate any input!

Kind Regards,

Victor

Been thinking about this - How did you go about syncing up with Justin? Were you the clock source? Is there a way for Norns MLR to receive clock that i’m not aware of?

Random Norns industrial design question. Was the brushed finish done by hand? If so may I know the process? I’m thinking about doing similar with my 16n panels

Probably as good a place as any to ask. Lately I’ve been running my modular into my Norns, then out to my Zoom to record. I just did the CM3+ upgrade, and have loads of room on there. Anyone know if the quality of recording on the TAPE going to be as good, better, or worse than going out to the Zoom?

I’d say tape would be better as you skip a DA/AD conversion stage.

Ya, that’s what I’m thinking, and one less THING on my table. And less chance of me deleting 2 weeks worth of recordings off the TAPE than the SD card… :man_facepalming:

sorry for this necro question - would an official Raspberry Pi charger also work (I have this one I got for Fates)? I’m in the UK, and would prefer not to use an adapter if poss, but promise to do as I’m told

Leaning in to say I had my first norns+grid session today and ooh my I’m in love already!

Problem free connection to wifi, file transfer with sftp worked like a charm :+1:t2:

Read about some troubles connecting to wifi. I made sure my network was set to 2,4 ghz/wpa. Connected straight away
