absolutely - i should’ve clarified that my comment was in regards to i2c m/s terminology, not norns. inspired by norns though - it’s great seeing a different language being purposely chosen from the beginning.

pushing at the edges is good though! once next 2.3 beta is ready i’ll get back to working on mlr scene for tt/er-301

this is a very interesting bit…

It’s different but there’s definitely some overlap between norns + crow and birdkids crow. I don’t see a problem with the similar names, but perhaps “raven” would be a good alternative? Or even “muninn” or “huginn” to further the norse theme.

yes. you can disconnect/reconnect grids to norns with no interruption

euro sync doesn’t have a perfect solution until we have crow finished. you can use nearly all of the methods that people use now for computer to euro sync. simplest option might be a usb-midi cable if you have a midi module.

all of these are no at the moment. some of them are easy/possible, others not so much.

i’d suggest waiting until the full mlr docs and tutorial videos are done (it will be a couple weeks) before jumping on a preorder, as the new mlr is an evolved concept of the original. i wasn’t looking to simply reproduce mlrv in a box.

As somebody who writes code and supports users daily, I just want to say that “consumers” are the most important part of the entire ecosystem, especially in the early days. Lots of good reasons to not buy things, and you have several, but I wouldn’t beat yourself up about annoying the creators, your questions are a valuable learning aid for them.

Please forgive me, but I don’t know what this means. I thought I saw you using the grid to demo mlr on norns earlier this week…?

I believe he means non monome grids. Such as novation, Push, etc

…aaaaaaahhhhhh I’m an idiot. Thank you. (sheepish grin)

I believe they’re referring to some old variations of mlr which simultaneously used a second grid for auxiliary functions.

Yep, that was my reading of it.

very much looking forward to a shnth driven MLR variant
once I get a norns I can guarantee I will be working on and eventually releasing that!

i use this alllll the time. haven’t had a midi keyboard in years. also, @tehn are we going to be able to load samples in to mlr? to make a live performance? or is it strictly a live sampler?

correct. apologies for the arcane historical reference. mlr-aux was a variant that had a second 8x8 grid as a secondary controller (@Daedelus used extensively)

it loads samples and samples live.

With LUA and i2c compatibility with crows do you think we can use norns as a hub for monome usb devices? If say, I wanted to pass grids through to ansible without plugging and unplugging would that be possible (with say a click of one of the physical buttons)?

I thought of this after I responded as well

Thanks for this
I shall be one of those who is just interesting in having mlr to use with modular.

So having seen crow, would it be able to have mlr on it?
I am sure I already know the answer “no” but worth trying
