I have never looked forward to a Customs charge more!

Having a backlog of weekly studies when we get there is probably a fair consolation for being in the second batch.

Cool. I’ll have to get something similar. Also any idea if there is a limit to the size of a usb flash drive norns can handle.

How many London people are waiting on a Norns order? Maybe we can start an irl support group or something, battery power! :metal:

yeah
i got the powerbank to extend the range of use

if i’m in transit > outside recording > performing with two usb controllers…and dont want to wait or worry about low power, then i’ll carry one or two of these

regarding internal external storage:

i’m not sure whether they’ll add this functionality in time for launch
but it’s happening

maximum shouldnt be limited if i understand what’s underneath norns hood

That’s good to hear now i remember Brian saying that a while back. I was thinking of buying a usb drive for norns so I guess I’ll wait until the unit is capable… When I had the er-301 a while there was a Max 32gb so was just wondering if norns had similar limitation.

Anyone know if the granular thing is grain fields or something different?

Initially there is a simple facility to sync user content to or from the embedded flash to a USB thumb drive. Given that norns is a linux machine the external file system limits are more or less what one would expect from a normal computer.

There is a significant performance difference between the onboard storage and an external thumb drive. Time will tell whether external storage can play a roll other than backup.

i think this is a great explanation of what is actually taking place and is a great resource

I’m more interested in using extra storage to augment space for onboard recording (rather than loading/sync stored samples)

Any news on that front? Is there a similar performance dip?

I think I’m interested in both, but I’d love it if, after writing a recording to local storage, that recording could be moved to the external storage, freeing up the local storage for new things.

does anyone want to have an ā€œArrived: nornsā€ thread when people start receiving their units, or are we gonna keep all the norns activity here?

I also want a NORNS STUDIES thread asap to see folks first patches.
