once the lights came on do they re-appear consistently if you relaunch the scene/reconnect the arc?

imo led feedback is crucial for jumping between controlling groups of parameters and seeing current values at a glance. also hoping i can hack in some lfo feedback to the arc (returns style).

No, they turn off after disconnection/reconnection or they freeze if i close the instance and stay frozen (on) when i reconnect. Iā€™ll respond if i figure somethin out, but im not too keen on this kind of stuff. lfo feedback would be dope!

ArcControl and the GridSequencer thingies work for me with most recent Live and M4l and I like them a lot! Just polygome does not. Switching modes and presets is possible, also recording patterns (according to the UI feedback). It just does not play anything. Is there anything I do wrong or is it just not ready yet?

Also it is not possible to keep the controller working when the according track in Ableton is not selected, is it?

PolygomƩ works with my setup, but not ArcControl.

I can bounce between polynome and the two sequencer patches with one grid. Each patch continues to make sounds and the pads/leds refresh fine. Autofocus works nice.

Did you try different instruments with polynome?

Yes, I tried different of the ableton standard instruments. Also I would have expected that the grid would show some visual feedback when polygome is playing a sequence.

Regarding the switching I had hoped that the controller is still working when I switch to another track that is not using any controller. When I do (with autofocus off or on) the grid freezes while the sequence is still running as it should, meaning when you have an Arc and a Grid connected you cannot switch to the track with Grid sequence and still change something on the other track with the Arc controllers.

If there is anything I have to think of or could try I would appreciate any ideas.

On the topic of those .png files, I found where they are (from a clue/hint in the most recent Arc Filter patch).

Yeah, thereā€™s lots of ways that this can be approached. In looking at it (only ever so slightly more), I guess the 500 resolution is to allow for ā€œupsampledā€ interpolation, regardless of the pattern you put in to play.

The funny thing is that my image generation isnā€™t actually any better than my programmatic list generation, so Iā€™d be kind of ā€œeyeballingā€ making images like this, buuut, I will probably try moving towards this in my next iteration of ā€œarc stuffā€.

still no luck here with LED activity. can anyone offer any suggestions on troubleshooting?

Did you try selecting another track an then back to the one with the device? Had to to this myself every time.

@Rodrigo I agree the arc led implementation is really ultra nice! The downside being that my old core2duo ableton recording machine cannot handle the goodness :neutral_face:

Ah well I just assumed thatā€¦ Needs testing! I rarely use that machine other than mixing, clip recording/playing and running an instance of valhalla.

Found the culprit. I seem to already max out the gpu with the 2560x1440 monitor attached to the mac mini. When I run it at lower resolutions the arc patch works just fine.

as i mostly use my arc with ansible i began to suspect the problem might lie outside of the ArcControl max4live world. after testing the arc with returns and seeing that all is working as expected iā€™m really stumped.

happy to say itā€™s working now. the problem? well, even though i recently upgraded live & max for live, liveā€™s preferences continued to point to max 6. after correcting the path all is well.

there is one bugā€¦ if i have autofocus turned off, selecting other channels will disable led feedback on the arc. turning the arc still works though. not a big deal for my use.

iā€™m really loving the ability to set different display modes. iā€™m configuring 4 ā€œpagesā€ and will use a different display mode for each one to help keep track.

also - i experimented with mapping arcControl to a target that was also mapped to an lfo. the leds on the arc updated and i was getting nice visual feedback ala returns

the downside to this approach is the arc loses control over target. would be cool to have a variation on arcControl that decoupled the led & dial - allowing you to map them to separate values. leds could display the modulation, while the dial controls the lfo offset.

no luck with walnut 64 on the grid stuff. are other 64 users getting LED feed back to the grid?
