Right, I’m not it  It’s hard to find a reproducible case without access to actual windows hardware (and the laptop I’m borrowing for that purpose doesn’t have a problem with the arc), so I’m trying different VM configurations now as well.

Man, there are so many different .amxd files in here that all seem to be in various states of presentable… Has anyone come across any documentation other than the youtube videos?

For instance, how does one figure out the 16, 64 and 128 sequencers? I’m guessing the P and M versions are percussive and melodic?

Anything I can do to help? Happy to debug more. Obviously I’m keen on getting it to work
You’re on Windows 10?

Windows 7 64-bit. Thanks for the offer, but setting up a windows build environment for actual debugging is complicated, building dependencies like liblo is even more tricky, so it might be easier for me to setup a system where I can reproduce the problem locally.

Imho win10 is the key here, so might be worth a try, maybe with a VM?

Yeah, I have a win10 VM, it doesn’t talk well to the arc though, so I’m trying to make it work first. I also think we have to continue the discussion a different thread and not derail this thread too much

I’ve got an arc, grid and a windows 10 computer - if there are any specific tests that are needed shoot me a pm & I can work on finding some time for it

Any news on the issue? @artfwo
I absolutely understand that you are in no way obligated to work on this and I do appreciate you taking the time! At the same time I am a little bit frustrated that I cannot use a newly bought product.
So I suggest 2 things:

  1. @tehn imho you should put a warning on the ARC order page, that it currently does not work with windows 10. That probably will prevent further customers from experiencing the same problem.

And
2. @artfwo I don’t know if you need physical access to the pc on which the ARC doesn’t work? If not I’m willing to give you access to mine through VPN/pptp or chrome remote desktop (and talk to you while connected etc).
Would that be a feasible and agreeable solution for everyone?

i apologize for the delay— i’ll facilitate getting this fixed. @Markus if you’d like to return the arc e-mail info@monome.org

I have been waiting 6 months to get an Arc, therefore won’t return it (if there’s a reasonable chance of getting it to work). But thanks!

i think i have arranged weekly access to a win10 laptop in Berlin, so no remote access needed, but thanks for suggestion! I am kinda sure problem is with the driver, but need some more time to confirm or deny the hypothesis.

But if it was the driver, wouldn’t the ARC vanish from “device management”? Because it does not

Well, it can be the problem with the i/o layer only. libmonome fails to communicate with the device at some point, so either the driver or the OS blocks it.

Has anyone experimented with a way of having the Arc automatically map to macros on the selected track, Ableton Push style?

Hello gang - not sure if anyone can advise me. I’m a fresh virgin in the Monome world, so please forgive any stupidity. Installed all the software as instructed on the site. Thought I’d begin by trying to get it to run inside Ableton 10.1 (on a MacBook Pro running OS Mojave). Downloaded this amazing looking suite of instruments from Stretta. All the lights on the Arc light up when connected but I can never choose Arc from within Ableton. There’s a blank space where it simply says ‘none’ where something should be happening I think for example in ArcControl. Have tried ArcControl and ArcControlG1 with equally frustrating results. Searched through forums but feel like I’m somehow missing a key part of the puzzle to get this to work!

Any advice or tips would be very warmly welcome and repaid with a smile and a happy wave from me. And hopefully some music and sounds in the near future too

THANK YOU!!

Can you right-click on the device’s header and open the max window ? It will display any error message. Maybe it’s not finding serialosc ?

I restarted my laptop, as that’s the only way I am able to get the Arc to light up when connected! I followed your tip and received this message. Does it help doctor?

This might have been asked somewhere in this thread, but I can’t find it. What makes these scripts “vari-brightness only?” Am I able to use them, albeit with a lower amount of information, with an old, non vari brightness grayscale?

Yes, that’s correct.

Awesome! I guess that means these scripts will feel even MORE experimental until I am able to get one of those potential VariBrightness LED drivers someone is working on here.
