I had missed that, good to know.

So psyched to be very close to a norns in my future!

Hi there, I’m fairly new to all of this but I thought I had a decent handle on things. I’ve got Arcologies working just fine, PolyPerc and Midi using MidiGrid and it’s all smooth and sounding great, but for some reason I can’t get Crypts to trigger at all. The directory is installed in dust/audio/crypts and matron doesn’t seem to be throwing any errors. I’m wondering if there’s an engine or other script I could be missing? I’m a bit at a loss. Thanks in advance to any help!
EDIT: I tried adding Digi to dust/audio/arcologies/crypt both as a folder and just the individual samples, and got nothing, and the param/edit interface reads the various crypts just fine, just no audio. Seems like just a sample playback issue?

Did you try to change the crypts in the parameters option? I think the first option can be silent, but as soon as you change to eras or noise or others, you will hear them.

Edit: ok, your edit answered it

I really wanna try out this script but can’t get toga/touchOSC to work with arcologies. Anybody else tried it and can give me some headers what I might be doing wrong with the whole code pasting in the script?

local grid = util.file_exists(_path.code.."toga") and include "toga/lib/togagrid" or grid

Are you pasting the toga/grid bit in the “_grid” file in the lib folder?

ah, thank you for the kind words and congratulations on your new job!

I must say that I’m probably going to sell my Keystep Pro because I have only sequenced using Arcologies for almost two years now. The Keystep has become a rather expensive midi controller to dial in synths and Arcologies is where the fun is at! Thank you again for such an immersive sequencer.

@tyleretters I hope you’re well. I’m still only using Arcologies and still enjoying it as much as ever!

I wondered how doable it would be for me to create an alternative version of either the UXB or Casino structure that outputs midi cc instead of notes? I’m thinking it would be cool to change sample lengths in my Volca sample for example.

Any starters or tips for a Lua complete beginner would be much appreciated!

hey! i’m so glad to hear you’re still playing with it.

yeah what you propose is absolutely possible. the first thing i would assign is doing the norns studies and then getting a small script with a couple lines talking to your volca. maybe you’ve done this already, but i’d definitely start there before diving into modding someone else’s work. after that i can advise on where the modifications would need to be made in the arcologies codebase.

Hi! I feel a little dumber than I already am because I can’t get any sounds to come out of arcologies. I have read some docs and watched a few videos and tried to follow along pretty closely. I can get sound (audio and midi) to come out of other scripts so there is something I am missing here.
Just got my norns shield and grid a few days ago so definitely a newbie.
I am wondering if there is a VERY basic video or document that just tells you how to emit a single sound from arcologies. Once I can do that I will undoubtedly be hooked because it looks amazing. Let me know also if this is the appropriate place to ask for this kind of help.

Thanks.

I found this series of steps in one of my text files - I don’t know where I got it from, quite possibly elsewhere in this thread, but you could try these and see if you get any sounds:

1 have maiden open when you start the script to see if any errors are being reported?
2 Next set up a hive and a shrine a few spaces apart on the same line.
3 Then open the ports that are facing each other by pressing on the hive and then pressing the partially lit square in the direction of the shrine.
4 Repeat for the shrine.
5 Then press k2.
6 Do you see signals traveling from hive to shrine?
7 Do you see any errors in maiden?

That’s all I’ve got, I’m afraid, I hope it helps.

Hey friend, really sorry but I seem to have misplaced the file. New computer, still restoring stuff from backups. The search continues, and I’ll give you a knock if I find it.

if you find it feel free to post directly to this thread, filesize permitting. alternatively we could commit it into the repo and offer a download directly from the docs.
