(to be clear: arcologies supports 512! i’m just not making it possible to “scroll” beyond the size of your grid!)

I would love to install this, but for some reason it’s not showing up in Maiden for me. I’ve confirmed i’m on 200712 and I have refreshed the base. I could install the zip, but now I’m wondering what’s going on. Am I mistaken that this isn’t on Maiden now and I should install the zip?

yep! make sure you’re on the “available” page and click the refresh icon, then install:

I’m so sorry. I went through the posts and saw someone else had this same problem and just came back to delete my post but you already replied. I was mashing the reload on Base and not Community. I feel like an idiot.

no apologies needed! i’m always happy to help. it is sometimes a huge learning curve to get into this stuff. i still get tripped up every day.

I think I’ve found an issue. When you have a pattern running and you go to preferences and then disable a structure that works as expected. But, if you try to re-enable it, it won’t ever come back on because disabling actually deletes the cell. I’m not sure if that’s intentional, but I guess I thought I could use this as a performance method and bring certain cell structres in and out (ie. mute/unmute). No biggie, but I thought I’d mention it incase your intent was what I thought en/disable should do and not actually delete the cell w that structure.

I like the idea of being able to mute and unmute cells!

hmm yeah i like the performance idea. the intention was to disable on a “system level” because say you might not have a crow so you never want to see those structures. deleting them is intentional. i’ve gotten that mute/unmute cell request a few times before. i’ll add that to the backlog my thought was that toggling ports off would be enough but i see why one would want to globally do it.

I’ve done this here and there by enabling/disabling send or receive ports but leaving the overall structure intact.

Ive done this too but find it a little cumbersome sometimes. A quick mute function to enabling/disabling all ports for a cell would be great when playing Arcologies.

Agreed. I’ve wished for a way to do this with institutions in particular.

When muted, should a structure function as if it’s just not there at all, allowing photons to pass? Or should it still block/redirect them, and just not pass info to sound engines/midi/etc? I could see a benefit to either scenario but the second is probably more predictable.

Your work is truly amazing. You did such a great job!
I found a (reproducible) bug: crypt structures allow for the import of waves 1-8, but I only have 1-6 loaded because I read that was the limit. If I change the crypt structure to 7-8 - and it triggers - the entire performance grinds to a halt. I can still move around and do stuff, but the track won’t play anymore. I tried re-loading, but it looks like a reload of arcologies is needed to fix it.

Although the mute/unmute was mentioned, I wasn’t sure if that was the intention. I’m OK with its current implementation. If we’re allowed to make requests: Seeing that the Crypt structure was the most popular in a poll you did above, I’d love to see more crypt manipulation (pitch for starters, but I can imagine tons more!)

I personally would enjoy the photons to pass as you could use that as a performative gesture but I can see the benefit of them blocking/redirecting. Maybe an option within parameters to choose if it passes or redirects?

how are you doing this? the index on should only go up to 6.

That’s what I thought too - but I definitely have the option to choose 1-8. I’m using whatever version is on Maiden (installed yesterday). I can take a little video clip if you want. I can check later, but I don’t recall having this option when I made the cell and structure, but it was definately there after I tried to change it. Will confirm in a little while.

OK, I can reproduce it. Here’s how:
Plop in a few Crypts. Save the arcology. Load it.
Now you can choose between 1-8. W/O saving it only lets you do it 1-6. Hope that helps!

yeah a video or screenshot of the crypt directories would be helpful! i cannot reproduce.

Sure, maybe we can take it to PM so I don’t clog up the thread? I’ll PM you.

Hi! im really enjoying using arcologies!
Apologies if this has been asked before, but when using Aviary and Forest to use with Crow, im getting voltage out of crows 1 but no gate on off that corresponds to note on / off, which i thought it would come from crow output 2.
So i want to route crow out 1 to a vco pitch and crow 2 out to an envelope / vca.
Any hints?
Thanks!

yeah that should be working. can you confirm your’e on the latest version of arcologies and norns 200712? are there any error messages in maiden?
