Yes, this is a known issue. Luckily fixing this for Topiary and Shrine is currently planned for the upcoming release, if I understand this post correctly.
I have zero idea though if a fix for these would also fix the Crypt amnesia you experience (i.e. if the amnesia in different structures has a common root cause).

Looking forward to the new release @tyleretters! I’ll report back with my findings.
Perhaps this is a good time to share my latest update on the Arcologies Divination Cards.
-T’is but a mockup
I recreated all symbols and elements as vectors so you can resize the cards at will. I also color-coded the cards according to the main 3 functions of each structure (signal emitters, note players, sample players).
You can download the Illustrator-compatible PDF here: https://www.jottacloud.com/s/208acc890031c3841f79fe5de7e611c21f9
Go ahead and let me know if you find any errors or if you have any suggestions. As always, credit to @tyleretters for the awesome Arcologies project.

Dear @tyleretters - thank you for this amazing wonderful project. I have only had my norns shield for a few weeks but I would estimate that I have spent around 90% of my time on it exploring and playing with Arcologies.
I only just started using the crypt structure in my explorations and have worked out how to upload and use my own samples for it, but was searching the docs to see if there is a structure for crypt similar to topiary in that it will progress through the index of samples. Not finding one (apologies if I have missed something obvious) I thought I could use something like a cloakroom to change the index value of the crypt, but I can’t seem to get that to work, probably a problem with my incomplete understanding of how these structures work properly. I shall continue to research and experiment.
*UPDATE - I think have managed to get cloakroom to do something to my crypt now, I’m just not sure what!
It is changing the index though - I will continue to explore and try and work out the logic underlying the psyops operator…
*Further Update I cannot replicate what I thought I had working with a cloakroom operating on a crypt when I got excited with my previous update…I am going to go to bed and reboot my brain and try again tomorrow!
I am still curious if there is a possibility that a topiary-type crypt structure could be created however? I have no insight as to what challenges this may raise, so please excuse my ignorance!
i’m so happy you’re enjoying it! you are correct that cloakroom is the structure to use. here’s a map for a modulating crypt:
- place these 3 hives, 1 crypt, and 1 cloakroom
- set the cloakroom’s ‘psyop’ to target ‘index’
- open the south and east ports on the cloakroom
- open the north port on the crypt
- whenever the cloakroom gets a signal from the southern hive, it will increase the crypt’s index by one
- whenever the cloakrooms gets a signal from the eastern hive, it will decrease the crypt’s index by one
- whenever the crypt gets a signal from the northern hive, it will play the sample
experiment with opening and closing the ports on the eastern and souther hives. select the crypt and watch the index change as the signals hit the cloakroom.

Thank you so much Tyler! I am sure you have a lot on your plate, but is there any chance of a Topiary-style Crypt ever appearing in the Arcologies ecology?
P.S. After a couple of doh moments I got cloakroom progressing my sample index in crypt, cheers! I have even managed to get Arcologies talking with Crow this afternoon, which is brilliant.
Thanks again!

i’m glad you got it working!
no, i don’t think a topiary-style crypt would be something i build. (that said, i don’t think it would be a very difficult modification to hack in.) you can also consider setting up six crypts, each with a different index to accomplish your musical idea.

One more stupid question - how to get a different internal synth voice loaded in Arcologies?
no such thing as stupid questions!

Thanks so much Tyler. What kind of output is the crow 2/4 meant to be when using aviary/forrest? On my system at the moment I get pitch v/oct changes on crow outs1 & 3 but the scope shows nothing for 2 & 4. Sorry for so many questions!

Thanks, I thought so, I will check again but on Data, I couldn’t see any gates or trigs generated so perhaps it’s a problem with my crow…

So maybe I’m a complete idiot here but I can’t seem to get any sound out of this. I’ve had my norns for a little bit and I know it works from other “apps” that I have run. I have even gotten my launchpad X to connect to Archologies and provide back and forth feedback. But I can’t for the life of me figure out why there is no sound. I have tried to connect to my external volca to test and nothing. What am I missing here?
Anyone have a problem with their Grid freezing up when running Arcologies on a Fates? I’m using the latest Grids and updated Norns after I encountered the issue the first time. I don’t know if its an issue with Norns or Arcologies.

are you experiencing similar issues with other scripts?

I was going to say no, its just Arcologies but then I ran into a different issue with Awake so now I’m wondering if there isn’t some sort of issue with Fates. I guess I have some researching to do.
For what its worth the issue has occurred maybe four times in total now- twice after updating Norns. Basically the Grid freezes but the Norns keeps functioning and the script continues to run. I’ve found that unplugging the Grid and plugging it back in fixes the issue so it’s really not the much of a problem. I tried to replicate the issue by seeding a new arcology at max settings and letting it run for a while but that didn’t do anything.
