Looks like we got a glimpse of James Blake’s home studio and his eurorack in this video.

Cool, will definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing

Yes, just as @shellfritsch said.
It is controlling different aspects of the Er-301 over i2c. The combination of those two things has become a pretty essential part of my live performance rig. I also will use a few of the CV outs from the 16n to control some other things in the modular. It makes it much more playable to me and limits the possibility that I will bump something accidentally when sticking my fingers between patch cables to make adjustments. I am pretty clumsy in that sense

i see you’re still using Walk, is it just for triggering 301?
and what about 1010 blackbox? how do you manage sample manipulation between 301/1010/op1?

Walk is for triggering recording/overdubbing on the 301. I used the 301 for live input processing and looping.
The blackbox is just playing back a couple of field recordings through two stereo pairs and a bass tone through another. That performance was all in quad so pretty much everything was based around spatialization (thus the doepfer matrix mixer)
I never use the op-1 for looping … I’m not sure why :man_shrugging:t2:

Tried focussing on the gear but every time… that teal beanie…:laughing:

Saw him support Sunn O))) with that rig a couple of weeks back. Very cool stuff.

I recently spent a few days hanging out with and performing music with people who worked with Cecil Taylor. One of them told me that Taylor’s practice method (and he would practice piano for six or more hours each day) was to hammer out different chords in a steady rhythm all day long.

Sort of a manual approach to what is described above: finding new chords and seeing how they sound together in context.

Sonic Boom’s setup at the Kosmische Club, Upstairs at the Garage in London, some time before 2008 (all the file dates got changed when they were transferred from one computer to another - and there’s no exif data to be found either). The strings belong to the act on before Peter Kember.

Alan Braxe (of Music Sounds Better with You fame) has a new studio setup – Buchla and not much else

I wonder if he’s still incorporating the SP-1200.

and that’s what Mr Boom played during an old gig in Rome, Italy… 2001 circa

Good question! I would have thought the SP-1200 wouldn’t lend itself to the new style he’s developed, but it would be interesting to find out
