Is clocking via crow working for anyone currently? I just checked that crow is up to date with 1.0.3 (latest official release) and my fates is up to date version 200604.

I’m having a hard time clocking anything in Norns via crow, awake is usually my test script.

To be clear, I can get output via crow 1+2, clocking is just not working.

Ive noticed a bug to do with clocking via crow and the morph function.
So when you select crow as the clock source the morph function doesn’t work correctly as it seems to stop responding to the input. Awake also seems to only respond to input 2 as a clock source.

yes , it’s working for me

I was wondering @tehn – is it possible to have awake output
JF + CV + audio?

Less-Concepts has implementation of this. It might be worth taking a look at that script, since you might be able to use that code to achieve it on your own.

I was JUST thinking that. It’s basically the same thing and @dan_derks was kind enough to add it.

So! Just to give Lua a shot, I added the ability for JF/CV at the same time. Didn’t add the audio function yet, but I’d be happy to share!

As well, if anybody thinks it should be added to the script in general, I could PR (my coding is bad and I just copy and pasted a few lines on place to another).

I’ll give a shot at getting audio going too.

Firstly, thanks @tehn for an invigorating device and an amazing script - I’ve been running it most out of all of the ones I’ve tried since putting a DIY Shield together yesterday afternoon - this Norns thing is certainly engrossing.

However, I’ve not been able to save presets including the steps and loop settings on Awake 2.4.0 - Awake Passersby does so with no issue, but Awake proper only saves the sound settings. I’ve re-installed Awake and We just in case, but nothing seems to let the settings be saved - any advice for a new user would be much appreciated.

Edit: So I have no idea why, but now I have tried again and saved presets load completely in Awake, including the steps and loops. False alarm, it seems - off to enjoy more Awakeness.

the friend I built the Norns shield for is having a blast using awake. I installed a bunch of scripts before handing it over, but he is stuck using awake standalone and with crow.

He is wondering, is it possible to run both audio out and crow 1+2 out of awake at the same time? or is it some kind of limitation that does not allow this?

this would work, and is a very easy script change. want to try it?

I second this option please!

also, scripting challenge for anyone looking for such a thing:

add a “vintage” param, which adds a degree of variation to the oscillator per step (ie, pitch modulation, cutoff, res, decay).

this is a very easy feature to add, and i find it amusing that such a thing could be a “highlight feature” for a new $3.5k synth (prophet 5)

We also researched what made the original P-5 sound the way it did — organic and alive — and found that a lot of that desirable character was due to fluctuations and differences in the response times and frequencies of the individual oscillators, filters, and envelopes from voice to voice. So we also added a Vintage knob that loosens all of them up like they were in the old days. You can dial in progressively more vintage character as you go from a very stable “4,” as in Prophet-5 Rev4, all the way to “1,” as in Prophet-5 Rev1, which was the most temperamental of all Prophet-5s. We’ve even included the original factory sound set for the full vintage experience.”

ps. i’m sure the synth sounds great

Yup. I’ll try to do this tomorrow. Had a glance at the script earlier without any hardware and seems pretty simple.

Also, every script should have a “vintage” param. Wow and flutter + soft noise for the masses.

What about a vintage parameter which scrolls down previous commits on git? I’ll be exploring this sorts of concepts once I get a norns going (kit arrived in mail today).

I am not really experienced with GitHub, but submitted a PR that should add audio + crow out1+2 functionality. If someone wants to test I’ve attached the script here(I don’t have a crow myself, but audio out works at least):

awake.lua (13.0 KB)

Thanks for taking the time to make the change and i will upload and test this evening!

Has anyone tried adding lfos to Awake before?

I’m also having an issue saving step and loop data in psets.

Any ideas about the cause?

I’m not sure what caused the problem with presets saving properly, but the next time I tried everything worked fine and continues to do so. Maybe make sure Awake is updated to the latest version?

Updating seems to have done the trick!

Thanks!

Is it just me (or my midi setup), or did Awake at one point sync start/stop over midi and now doesnt?
