This dang script is like a norns version of Arbhar. Really beautiful stuff.

@infinitedigits
another small request/observation…:stuck_out_tongue:

the recording counter will endlessly keep going until you stop recording.
could it possibly count down from 60?

yeah! that’s a good idea, i’ll look to add that

Hmmmm. Looked for this in Maiden this morning, but I’m not seeing it there. Could be user error, but before I troubleshoot, can I ask if there’s typically a delay in something being added? Really eager to try this

Did you refresh the maiden library? I grabbed it via maiden.

Thanks for that. I did so. Looks like I need to troubleshoot there!

Edit to say: I thought I refreshed, but had not. User error, thanks for the sanity check

Thanks @infinitedigits for Barcode. I have just discovered it this week and immediately I wanted to make some music with it.

@mcpepe that is absolutely amazing sounding. that swell in the beginning is priceless and your piano work is wonderful. a damped piano is my probably all-time favorite instrument

Thank you! Norns scripts are wonderful to stimulate new compositions and Barcode is a great script.
I did this very quick and have the sensation I need to invest more time learning Barcode to look for new textures and uses.

I’ve just spent a happy hour or so recording random snippets of online videos and some synth twiddlings into Barcodes, and it’s blowing my mind somewhat, while also reminding me of 2-track and 4-track tape experiments I did 25-odd years ago. Definitely going to use this in my next live radio session! Excellent work.

Did I see mention above of pulling tapes into the buffers? I can’t figure out how to do that though.

you can load tapes - its roundabout, but you can use the menu to play a tape on the system and while it is playing, use the record function on barcode.

Ah, I hadn’t thought of trying that - thanks; this could lead to all manner of multi-pass overdubbing fun.

v0.4 released

biggest change: new controls

K3 is now how you start recording and any key will stop.

shift+K3 now clears, and shift+K2 now switches buffers.

changelog

  • ui: record with just pressing K3
  • ui: bigger, scrolling highlights parameters
  • ui: better messages, removed redundancies
  • bug fix: disallow rate of 0
  • new feature: adjust record level using E1 during recording

lmk if you see new :ant::beetle::bug:

any chance you could have some small display in the top right corner showing what parameter is highlighted? just L, P, R, RV, SE or something would really help.

absolutely, will add that next!

i wanted to say THANK YOU for this script!!! it instantly transformed my norns into an entirely new instrument for me. such a valuable addition, makes me want to buy some shield kits to have a bunch of instances of this running at once. really really appreciate your work!

The Norns is a dangerous thing in that respect - and Barcode in particular would be great with another one feeding into it.

Certainly stoked for the grid support!
