This stinks. What an unbelievably low thing to do. I don’t think a full room of adults wrote off on this. It feels like something a very cocky owner of a company would do because he feels personally attacked by Kirn, and the company of folks just trying to make their living and build synths are cleaning up the mess.

Tbh I’ve tried to stay out the should they/shouldn’t they debate until now. This is at best childish, and I’ll be making sure to avoid all of their products.

You might be surprised how difficult it can be to find a room full of adults in a large multinational company. It’s bizarre how possible it is for a charismatic leader to amass a following when they provide financial incentives. It’s hard to stand up for what is right when your livelihood depends on doing otherwise.

Saved the link to watch later and it’s gone already. VERY WEIRD. Social media viral all-publicity-is-good-publicity ‘BRAND IS UR MATE YEAH’ troll-marketing is getting out of hand under normal circumstances, let alone with Uli behind it

Same here. I have one Behringer product in my setup - a patchbay I bought years ago - and I’ll be taking it out of my rack tonight. I’ve been silently watching and grimacing as line after line has been crossed, but childish bullshit like this is the end of the road for me and my noisy patchbay.

Wow. This is incredibly distasteful and a perfect example of the kind of behavior that I don’t want to see more of in the world. I was going to sell my Boog on Reverb (I bought a Moog Sub 25 last week), and I’m now torn between doing that and just dismantling the damn thing. I know that wouldn’t fix anything, but it would feel awfully nice.

Donating it to a kid or a school or an after-school music program would probably feel better than destroying it.

An idea could be to remove the panel and delete all the references to the brand on it and on the board, painting over a new overlay and donate the synth to a music charity

@kbit and @rossominerale, great thoughts. Totally doing this. Thanks for the idea!

Edit: Our local academy of contemporary music is going to take it. Good riddance.

Jeez Louise, these are some good, thoughtful ideas that out the best in to the world. I am super humbled that these suggestions were made and that they could very well be taken. I love this forum.

I guess they will be announcing a collaboration with synthrotek next :expressionless:

It’s so weird and unnecessary. Hopefully people will stop buying their stuff, stop working for them and stop stocking their products.

They are worse than I ever imagined.

This really sucks. I’m tempted to replace my Boog with a Meeblip now. Unfortunately I do really like the Minimoog sound and workflow.

I’m going to respect my depth year plans, and deface instead of replace. I bought it used so fortunately I haven’t directed supported them yet.

I’ll just keep saving and buy a real Moog next year. Fuck Uli.

That is a good idea regardless, audio routing especially on older B products is sub par

I have the same patchbay - it bleeds and cuts out like crazy.

Seems like a good replacement.

Thanks! I still have a trusty old Furman PB-40 that should be able to handle everything.

Oh dear this really is a disgrace, demonstrating only how fragile an ego the company (the owner) has.

I was torn when they were making new versions of old unobtainable synths that were no longer in production or prohibitively expensive, but recurrently making efforts to shaft the small players and making stuff that is still in production by other companies in a similar price bracket (even if technically legal), is much more discomforting.

And then this open attempt to mobilise its FB/GearSlutz sycophants against individuals who honestly go about their business. Absolutely the pits.

They’ve lost any business I might have thrown their way and I hope many others with vote with their wallets. Cheap synths are not the end that justifies the means…
