This marks the exact point where I’m officially ā€œoutā€. Never bought a Behringer, but I never will now. Guess I have to thank Behringer for being so unambiguously vile. I’ve never met Kirn but I’ve been acquaintances with him online for a while now, and I’d have trouble believing he’d have ANY enemies - he’s quite likeable. Good for him for not commenting, today at least, instead keeping up his latest post that shows off the (completely original! and very affordable!) synths he’s developed with his own company.

Does anyone know what exactly prompted this? It’s especially funny to me that Meeblip makes fairly basic, mostly digital (correct me if I’m wrong), open source, affordable instruments. About as far from corksniffing as you can get.

To me the inaccuracy of the burn is even more offensive than the burn itself.

I’m sure it has more to do with Peter’s reporting than the synths he’s put out. It’s apparently also not the first time Behringer has taken a swipe at him online, so it doesn’t seem like it’s a single thing that has prompted it.

What’s ironic is how litigious Behringer’s been about disparaging comments about them, for things that are far less offensive than this.

ā€œHow can we piss on this man in a way that implies he is a pretentious, hipster liar and a sinful, devient homosexual with some weird antisemetic dogwhistling notes? Maybe… something a shitty white teenage boy would laugh at? I’d need options people.ā€

holy #@$! that’s idiotic nonsense. Also, I know very little about rendering, but they seem to have gone through a lot of effort for something so not funny.

I’m done with them, I have an okay mixer from… 11 years ago that’ll let live out it’s days, but we’re done Behringer.

I’ve said it before, with all the amazing hardware and software creation tools out there, it’s sometimes nice to completely write off a brand. Saves me some time picking out gear.

I’ve been incredibly tempted to get some of their gear for the price point, but this is too much.

Not that I held Behringer in high regard before, but really, how low can you go? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of something similar. Bullying! But I guess the hardening tone is a trend we see and can recall from politics.

Ethics aside, it seems so unprofessional, childish and stupid for a company so focused on making money. Regarding the psychology in this, it’s interesting though to see how offended Behringer apparently get when being criticized. As if their self image doesn’t match how they are viewed by the music-making community.

So true. And the psychology is so Trump. Or Musk. How on earth did we get here…

We’re into even uglier territory now with Behringer bros (I can’t believe I’ve coined that term but here we are…) trotting out the ā€œsuggesting that the caricature is anti-Semitic means you’re anti-Semiticā€ line.

Pepe memes incoming, almost certainly.

Funny, I was just about to post a similar link lol! You really can’t make this shit up.

But I think we can not complain about this, because we are the ones who put them there, talking about the company, making reviews, watching their videos and buying their products …

The good thing is that WE can also take THEM OUT. It’s pretty easy, indeed.

The only good thing I took away from this whole saga was that it lead me to the article that Behringer seem to be annoyed about. Ironically this fuss has pushed it right down the search so I’ll repost the link here.

Is it just me or have they actually now deleted the whole ā€˜apology’ thread?

Honest question: why Musk?

I suspect @_mark is thinking of things like this, re Musk.

Musk has a similar unhinged style when attacking his critics (see the ā€œpedo guyā€ stuff). Musk is also an anti-worker, anti-union technocrat who treats his employees like shit, which seems to be true of Behringer as well from what I’ve read.
