Whewwwwwwww… Three months since I first posted this thread, and the bulk of the discussion occurred. Right after that, lock down response to Covid-19 started here in the USA. And a short two months further we had George Floyd’s murder and now the continuing protests. It has been a very emotional time to live through.
In this period I’ve had the opportunity to play several live sets, streamed from home. In each of these, I’ve been letting myself be more raw with my materials, looser in my structure, all in service to trying to let my experience and response come through. I think the sets exhibit a clearly increasing familiarity with this way of speaking through music. The most recent is pretty passionate, warts and all.
The great discussion here has really helped, and explored the kind of context and approach and thought I was hoping we could look at. I’ve still barely explored this path - but am now a few first steps down the road.
