Blippoo for Wingie is an alternative firmware for Wingie2. The new firmware is inspired by Blippoo Box, a genius instrument created by Rob Hordijk (1958-2022), who contributed a lot to synthesizer design. May his spirit lives on in his instrument designs, thoughts, and influences.
The new firmware could turn your Wingie2 into a self-contained instrument capable of producing a variety of sounds and patterns. As a great companion, it will help you in your music-making practice especially when you want to applicate controlled chaos to your music.
The new firmware works quite well, and has made the Wingie 2 unputdownable for me. I was intrigued by it before, but I am not someone who enjoys puttering with midi.
Now, it has an emergent richness on its own, similar to that which the Wing Pinger or other Hordijk-aligned objects offer. Just so dang cool.
It’s magical. It amazes me how well the controls approach works without having been designed for this purpose. Even so, if you add a 16n it turns into a delight.
@MengQiMusic Thanks for this great firmware, it’s a lot of fun. Stupid question that I should have asked before but how do you come back to the “regular” firmware ? Do I have to reflash every time ? Could it be possible to have the two firmware at the same time and have a key combo at boot to choose between both ?
Yeah, to switch between the two firmwares will require a reflash each time. Nice idea to have both combined though, and should be possible (assuming that there is sufficient space).
