Saw an event from four years ago that @desolationjones posted for a show in Indy, and saw that @hypnosapien at that time was a Bloomingtonian and also interested in connecting with other monome loving folks in the area. Wondering if the two of you are still around these woods and if there are other folks are around as well. What are the existing spaces around these parts for ambient and experimental musics?

I can’t speak to Bloomington but I’m also up in downtown Indy (fountain square). If you’re ever in the area drop me a line.

Evansville here. It would be awesome to organize some sort of event in Bloomington if we can get enough folks interested. I haven’t been around much since 2011ish though, so I’m not sure what’s going on musically these days.

2 hours away in Louisville, we have a happening little group of weirdos here, a variety of age groups and interests.
Definitely would love to make the trek over and play in Bloomington at some point!

I’m still in Bloomington! I’m sort of out of the loop on the electronic music scene here, especially in the past couple of years or so. I have a good friend who I get together with frequently for electronic music noodling, and I imagine I could find more people without too much trouble. And if I dig around a bit, I’m sure there are some happenings I just don’t know about. I’ll see what I can find out over the next several days and report back. It would be awesome to get some people together with our monomes and other fun musical toys!

The last show I played before the pandemic started was with Drekka, an experimental artist from Bloomington. I would recommend contacting him, as I believe he’s played a number of experimental-friendly venues in Bloomington. You can find him at https://bluesanct.com/.

Glad to see you’re still around! At the very least it would be nice to meet you at some point. I live in the Catholic Worker on the West side of town and we do semi regular house shows here. They are quite small, but as a start it might be fun to get a group of folks to do some improvisational stuff for one of these in the fall.

I’m in Indy but I’ve had some fun times playing in Bloomington. Caspian Donkin used to host the Bloomingtron Open Tweak at Blockhouse but it’s been several years since the last one. We also had a Modular on the Spot in the park (would love to reprise that!).
There are some Indy venues I think might be amenable to experimental electronic: Playground, State Street Pub, Healer, Emerson Theatre…

Wow, lots of Hoosiers on here.
Great electronic show at State Street Pub tonight (Friday 5/27) hosted by my label Medium Sound. Might check out our most recent compilation, Program 3.
There is a great scene in Indianapolis with lots of stuff happening at Healer, State Street Pub, Dear Mom with players like Mark Tester, Lee Lloyd, Rob Funkhouser, codec.kate, Solid Squares, Channel and Form, Airport People, Evan L, The MKII, Sedcairn Archives, etc etc etc
Oreo Jones runs Listen/Hear, which is another great venue that also hosts a low power station (99.1 WQRT-LP) that plays tons of cool ambient/electronic stuff.
I’m not sure what is happening in Bloomington these days, most folks I knew there have moved away.
The Spot Tavern in Lafayette hosts cool stuff.
