There will be a mix of live improvised groups, electronic musicians, and mixed works.

is anyone going to see dead can dance at wang theatre in april? (4/24/20)

Hadn’t seen that show and it should be nice… but you’re not gonna go see C93 in NY that weekend?

i’m vaguely conflicted with C93’s work these days (personal/aesthetic reasons), so if i was going to pick one of these—all other things being equal—it’d be DCD. still, i’m not entirely sure i’ll even be going that route, haha. just curious who might be attending

This is going to be so great!

Been lurking on lines for half a year and I just found this thread!

I’m not sure if/how many of you I know here (oh, hello @Dewb!), but I’m working full-time in tech and part-time graduate student at MIT. I was a production lead for Together Boston festival, and sound engineer for Make it New at Middlesex Thursdays. After the latter wound down, I now run monthlies at Middlesex under the 4OTF (short for Four-on-the-Floor) event moniker.

I actually chatted with Dewb about this during Together, but I have a desire to organize a semi-regular collaborative, improvised all-live jamming night similar to what Sebastian Mullaert does with Circle of Live. I’d love to hear if this is something that might interest people here.

Hi @Versipellis!! A night built around live improv hardware performance sounds fantastic, whether it was individual sets or an overlapping/collaborative thing a la Circle of Live. I forget if I mentioned this during our conversation at Together, but I went to Sebastian Mullaert’s workshop at Mutek this year and it was fantastic. I should write up my notes.

Yes!

I teach at Berklee and have some good friends in the Electronic Production and Design department… I’d be happy to spread the word there…

Sorry for the slow response on this, fell off the grid while waiting to see what kind of responses I got here.

I’m thinking either May or July for this… Or September if there are a bunch of EPD folks who are only around during the school semester who would like to get involved. Thoughts?
