New England Synthesizer Festival this Saturday 12-6 in Burlington, MA!
http://nesynthfest.org

Tons of cool stuff, talks, vendors, performances, jam space, quadraphonic room. Chris Konopka and I are doing analog visuals for the performances. Space for drop-in A and V performers still.

It’s also Together Festival week!

I’ll be doing video Wednesday (Antal and Ron Trent) and Thursday (Baltimoroder) at Middlesex.

Bumping this because that Non Event show at City Hall is tonight. It’s free, and should not be missed! Really excited for this show

Wondering if anyone else lives on the north shore?

I’d love to find some folks to hang with a bit and getting into Boston on the weekend is really challenging, since I’m in there all week for work…

Not on the north shore (Somerville, here), but I’d be happy to take the commuter train up – it’s nice to get out of town once in a while! Traveling back to Canada for a family visit this week and next, but would be down to hang out sometime later in the month if you are.

i’d be down to come up from PVD sometime to hang. would just need to plan in advance a bit.

I’m in Medford, would definitely be into more north-of-city hangouts. I keep meaning to get up to the Lowell events.

Thanks to the folks who responded to my query about north shore get togethers…

It got me wondering about the possibility of a Boston area monome user group…

I know there’s a Boston area modular meetup, but that’s a broader swath than I am specifically thinking about here…

It’s funny - I feel like a good chunk of us are also getting crow, and will perhaps be scratching our heads a bit as we get started. Could be fun to hang and hack together!

But in general I’m totally down for a Monome group

i was thinking that too! i’m still working toward getting a monome piece (i ended up here pretty randomly), but would love to hang out and tinker & riff & learn.

I started with Ansible and Grid. While I would still recommend that as a great starting point, I’m now thinking I’d recommend Crow for the price, size and max/m4l capability not to mention First. It’s able to be used totally stand alone (from any other Monome/Mannequins modules or controllers anyway) but it can grow into numerous interrelated roles as your arsenal expands…

Ansible can be used with a midi keyboard but it really shines with a Grid… or Arc, or Teletype (which I don’t have yet)…

Others may have different perspectives, this is merely my own personal experience…

A couple of us drove down from Portland for this, excellent night. My first non-event city hall show, beautiful space.

The Boston Modular meetups have had pretty heavy monome representation in the past, though the proportion has gone down a bit now that it’s a larger event.

If there was interest in a meetup specifically focused around norns/crow hacking I’d be happy to look into hosting something either in Medford or at Artisan’s Asylum in Somerville.

The Irish folks are still coming to Boston, some to visit and some to stay…

The connection runs deep…

Come see us!

I can’t wait to get over there!

Deep in norns/crow hacking this week! Would people be interested in a meetup this Saturday afternoon (the 12th?)

Taking a red eye back from Canada the previous night, but could be down - if slightly groggy and slow - later in the afternoon!

I’ll be at a conference in NY!

i’m otherwise occupied. my saturdays tend to fill up pretty quickly, so best bet on my end would be scheduling a few weeks in advance. but i don’t have a relevant machine yet anyway (working on it!) so i’d just be coming to catch stuff via osmosis. enjoy!
