Yup, been working on it a lot. Loooots of little changes and improvements since the last one, including a compensation/correction feature (sounds AMAZING) better gain staging, better windows, significantly faster loading and matching times (like no pinwheel at all when loading anything), native Push support, and automation looking/working well.

Still working out the main corpus loading menu so you can load/unload individual corpora and still be able to automate everything well.

Ok, here’s a fresh beta (v0.999):

It should work in 64bit Live/Max too (but I’ve not really tested it yet), and everything in the UI works except the ‘Clear Current’ option in the corpus menu. If you select it nothing happens, and it stays stuck on it until you select something else. So just leave that alone for now.

This uses the more recent versions of the underlying externals, so load time is basically instant, even for really long corpora (30k+ vs 128million for my largest corpora).

If you’ve downloaded the previous corpora packs, they will load and work, but the corpus UI thing won’t work as I’ve changed how that stuff is stored/calculated slightly. I’ll put the current corpus pack to upload after this (it will take a few hours on my shitty upload speed).

There isn’t a fresh version of the ‘Create Corpus’ device. This still works, but as I said, the corpus display window won’t work properly.

Other than general testing, I HIGHLY recommend trying the following settings:

-load a sample with lots of pitched material
-load up a couple of corpora
-set the corpus selection to All
-crank the pitch/loud correction dials
-select Chunky mode
-set the rate knob to a low value
-set the window type to rampdown

That shit sounds awesome.

After downloading, I opened it up in the newest Live with newest Max both 64-bit and no sound came out with the wet mix 100%. It did pass dry mix with the device on. I only briefly played around so I may just need to spend a little time troubleshooting, but maybe it doesn’t quite work with 64-bit yet? I can reproach it later on and see if it was something else or help troubleshoot. It looks really nice, the Match animation was functioning and the corpora loaded way quick.

Hmm, did you see blips in the bottom right display?

It’s possible it’s not fully playing nice in 64 yet (the external in the last build is still in alpha).

I didn’t have any luck with the 64-bit version either (3D graph viz runs, but no blips), but I’ve use the 32-bit version in a couple of performances… really enjoying it!

This is the error max is giving me with 0.999, I get graph update but no wet sound, dry can come through.

Yeah that’s complaining that the 64bit bundle isn’t working. I was seeing some errors like that when trying to bounce out the M4L device, but managed to get one that seemed to work fine, so I thought it was ok. It appears not!

(I’ll try to bounce another beta soon enough, though hit a bit of a snag with my laptop refusing to turn on yesterday after my backpack got rained on…
Took it in for repairs today so fingers crossed!)

Ok, I created a fresh version of the device which should resolve the 64/32bit issue.
I’ve tested it on another computer and it appears to be working.

a lil vid of it in action. pretty subtle use. I just have bell like tone sequenced before and the arc is just kinda effecting blend and rate. super fun to mess around with. I’m excited to try it with more expressive inputs like a live guitar or vox.

God, good fucking news!

It’s been such a ball ache getting this working properly, but I think I’ve cracked the sequence of steps required.

I’ve taken a hiatus from finishing it up prepping for a gig tonight, but once I recover a bit of code from the HD of my laptop that died (!!) I’ll get back on this.

edit: It’s really slick and elegant seeing it controlled with an Arc. M4L-ing stuff brings those kinds of easy perks along.

oh ya! realistically, i’m more likely to actually make music in ableton to reduce complication and integrate all the wonderful tools, so having your patches in M4L is incredible. Thx for all the effort! Lots of other control mechanisms come to mind already and its so quick to experiment.

edit: hot dang, that gig looks incredible! i love the tanks. I had a pretty emotional experience with Janet Cardiff’s choral installation earlier this summer. How did it go?
