Anybody know of a good substitute for nazca noodle patch cables in terms of flexibility and size of connector? They seem to be sold out everywhere I’ve looked at least in the US.

https://lzxindustries.net/products/rgb-minisnake-cable these are rgb colored cables for originally for video synths
but they are just cables
you could either use the third cable or pull it off and make it a pair instead
it makes patching rgb video signals visually easy to follow and separate the modulations

you can see several in different lengths being used in my setup here https://www.instagram.com/p/B3HelrXB1ZT/

I like Control’s cables (Crono, BT, and Camo here). Reasonably skinny and flexible, and the ends are much narrower than the Ad Infinitum style, although a bit wider than Noodles, IIRC.

cool! I saw them, but I wasn’t sure about the flexibility. I have Ad Infinitum cables also and am not keen on them. thanks!

In my experience the Control cables are nice, but they don’t have the kinkless, floppy feel of the Noodles. I like them but they are different in feel. So size of connector is very similar, feel is different.

Geartree seems to have some noodles on Reverb.

@zoundsabar thanks! good to know. I might still get them if I have trouble finding noodles in the future

@gimber thanks so much! ordered!

I’m a longtime MI fanboy, but have to say I’ve never liked the feel of these. They’re too stiff for my liking.

These are my favorite cables so far. Feel very authoritative and satisfying.

I use the MI cables and the Modular Addict braided cables which are very similar/nearly identical. I like braided cables because they stick up and out of the way.

So I just took delivery of the Erica Synths cable holder (300mm), and while it’s good enough for ordinary eurorack cables, to my dismay it can’t hold TipTop stackables - of which I have quite a few.

Are there any alternatives that will hold a bit thicker eurorack cables? And perhaps even widely available alternatives …?

Think these were ~3 usd each at Ikea. I could probably use a fourth so as to better separate short from short-medium.

Given how much of a bother it is already is to organize and bin these when tearing down a patch, I can’t imagine trying to slide each cable into a fingery slot.

Pomona orange cable holders work for every Euro patch cable I’ve tried, from super skinny ones to Stackables and thick braided cables.

I’ve become a big fan of eurodesk hangers - https://www.eurodesk-z.com - I have both the hex-01 and the hex-25. They work for practically anything.

Edit: apparently the thread about cable holders got merged with a general cables thread. Moderator who did this - Bad form! This is a different topic. Not a thread about cables - cable holders are a completely different thing.

Yeah, I’ve stuff in boxes for quite some time, that also gets tiresome … with things getting all tangled up. So I thought I’d try a cable holder now. Let’s see - I can see your point, I am rather lazy by nature, so hanging those cables up post-patch could be an obstacle.

I hang cables and it’s actually a pleasant experience!

I patch color coded, so i need the same color in different lengths and organised. Build this holder yesterday with a ⅜ thread for mic stands.

I’m using an erica synths cable holder, while some of my stackables are a tighter fit I would really recommend hanging cables, works well for me at least. Also very easy to store them, I bunch them up and can basically ‘push’ them into the rack.

Wow, six days in this thread without a post! Let me break that streak:

I’m looking for really short patch cables, I have a bunch of stereo modules in one corner that all get patched together, and even with 6 in. / 15 cm cables it gets a bit busy. Who makes really, really short cables?

Looks like https://www.boredbrainmusic.com/product/eurorack-patch-cables/ makes 3inch cables.
