I’ve got to say I really enjoy these cables
I only tried them because the LZX RGB triple cable snake is made by this company

good cables

Those coily cables look cool, but I can imagine that they might start to get in the way a little, and coil into each other, once the ‘spaghetti’ stage of patching begins.

I’ve never really got on with coily guitar cables either (each to their own though of course).

I recently replaced all cables (Mutable Instruments) with Hosa.

The Mutable’s were/are fine; just a bit too chunky and inflexible for me.

The Hosa’s are also easily available in the UK… plus a bonus that they come in a wide range of colours

I’m sticking with them for the foreseeable.

I saw these cables were recently added to the Modular Addict shop, I’m curious if anyone has tried them yet? The cable and barrel looks skinny, similar to the Control cables, though perhaps the barrel is longer on these relative to the Control cables.

If they are the same as the ones I felt the other day at Midwest Modular, they feel great. They look very similar, and are super slim. They’re very drapey and have an almost soft silicone like rubber casing. Joe (The shop owner) seemed to really like them, although he did say that they tasted bad.

Is anyone aware of something like this that exists in a 3.5mm size? I guess an adapter could be used, but it could be quite handy to have something smaller for use in eurorack…

Closest thing I know of is the Landscape All-Flesh, but it’s a bit different than that.

I’m not sure what gate voltage that thing puts out, but I bet you could just use a 1/4 female with that plugged in with a 3.5mm on the end.

Maybe something like:

Oh right, that would work. Thanks!

Taking the spaghetti patch literally…

Interesting. I like the MA braided ones since they don’t kink (and are quite cheap); not sure how I’d like more drapey/droopy cables.

Since I’m constantly on the go with my rack, I always just dump my cables, power cable, and mults from a storage tote into the lid of my case. Speaking of, I just got this really nice fabric and sewed up a custom tote to contain them.

It dawned on my that perhaps there should be a thread for accessories, not cables, not cases, but things like cable holders, cord organization, lights, batteries, and other odds and ends that go along with ones setup. Admin, feel free to fork this if that seems appropriate!

As an update I purchased one of the Modular Addict ‘skinny’ cables to test. The cable material is very rubbery, similar to the Erthenvar ‘Hotlinx’. The cable barrel is thinner than the control cables and perhaps slightly longer.

I already love their cables, so I’m definitely buying one of these as soon as our stock arrives at the shop.

start enjoying to patch color coded, hosa is perfect for this.

Did anyone attempt to paint their patch cables?

I’d like to reduce the rainbow palette of my Eurorack cables by painting them in just one or two colors - without compromising cable quality or flexibility.

What kind of paint could be suitable for this?

Dont. Just dont. It wont work. Just trade with other users to get the colors you wish for.

Erthenvar seems to be defunct. I was excited because you can place items in checkout but the checkout function is disabled. They have a banner that says they are out of business.

I recently ordered a mess of Control cables, and I proceeded to order a bunch more. They very compact.

The trouble I had with Control BT cables was permanent kinks from the way they package them.

Last week I got some of their Crono cables in the 22cm length and they weren’t tied up, and are fine.
