I just created a account, because I want to sell my monome. I tried to create a new post in Trade, but for some reason the ‘new topic’ button is disabled. Why is that? Is it because this is a new account?

It seems that Trade is the only category I can’t post in.
Am I doing something wrong? I couldn’t find any info about this.

I believe you have to have the member badge before you can post in the trade category. There’s info on that here:

Not sure about the member badge. I noticed that a new user who doesn’t seem to have the member badge has a post in Trade.
But I’ll see if it helps to spend more time on the site.

the activity/participation thresholds are very low to get to basic user level. and likewise to become a regular. honestly if you’re actually reading the forum even rarely you’ll become a regular quickly.

the decision was made to prevent user signups that are solely to repost ebay links, etc.

the whole point of a trade category is to have allow trading within the community, not for outsiders to solicit trade to/from the community.

becoming a part of the community just means participating, so, welcome!

Well I’ve been away from here a little while and now I understand the trade category has changed although I’m registered since 2015 I see I have a granted made in Oct 2016 and now replied to a new user looking for buying a Grid and replied with some infos as I could not find the trade in the category that I now see all in a sudden BUT locked to me…what should I do to post in the trade now? just be connected or lurk as suggested? is been registered since 2015 not good enough anymore?

Here is the definition of trust level 3 “Regular” required for posting in Trade:

registration date doesn’t matter. user levels are based on participation-- read time is a simple indicator.
