Cassettes for my label’s first release are finally done and shipping! Limited edition of 50 hand-numbered copies of Saigon Would Be Seoul’s debut album ‘Everywhere Else Left Behind’. These were a lot of work but really happy how they turned out.

Saigon Would Be Seoul is the new solo project of Mirza Ramic from the American electronic music duo Arms and Sleepers. While spending most of his adult life in the US, Mirza was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina and lived there until 1992, when the Bosnian War forced his family to flee the country. Mirza and his mother would spend the next few years moving across continents, countries and states as refugees — living in Tunisia, Egypt, Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Arizona, and Massachusetts. Mirza’s father did not survive the war; he was killed by a mortar shell in 1993.

This personal journey of trauma, loss and survival is at the core of Saigon Would Be Seoul. Mirza’s mother, a piano teacher, introduced the piano to him at the age of 6. Subsequently, the piano became the one constant in their lives as they kept changing environments and moving further away from Bosnia & Herzegovina. Piano, and music in general, became important mechanisms for processing memories and finding healing.

the folded paper reminds me a tiny bit of a few pieces from this Dorothea Rockburne exhibit I just saw.

Thanks! we had multiple problems with suppliers, including a vinyl plant cancelling our order the week before release as they screwed up the 4th (4th!) lacquer and didn’t even bother sending a test, just a refund… so it’s been a long journey.

It does a bit! the CDs have a different fold too which is going to be our standard there as well.

edit: oh and THANKS

My new album, released via Cudighi Records (San Francisco, California):

Credits :

Music by Fahmi Mursyid
Art by David Frazier
Design by Benjamin Van Howe

Cudighi Records :
"Fahmi Mursyid’s music ekes out an existence somewhere between the natural and the artificial. On his newest release, a work that distinctly references the Krakatoa archipelago of volcanic islands, Fahmi expertly pairs the organic with the synthetic, sine waves rippling and mimicking the waves of the ocean, each echoing the other.

Much like the islands referenced, the songs reshape and attempt to rebuild after disruption and disturbance. Loops advance and reorganize after damage and strain, losing little momentum. Some islands end up more damaged than others - “Rakata” is especially fractured, dissonant, and distressed, while “Verlaten” is generally languid, subjected to only mild and infrequent interruptions.

By combining acoustic instrumentation found in world music with granular and modular synthesis, Fahmi effectively builds a world colliding with itself. Luckily, he sticks around to document the aftermath."

I spent the past couple of weeks creating an ambient drone music piece entirely on my AE Modular Synth, It’s called WÆVER and it’s out now digitally and on cassette!

I really enjoyed making this and I’m very happy with the sound collages that the AE Modular let me come up with. The whole piece consists of around 50 individual recordings mixed together as a 20-minute stereo piece, with only very gentle mastering applied. So the full character of the AE Modular system is maintained.

Super thrilled to share this new album by Gabriel Vinuela and Nico Rosenberg with you. Released via my label Seil Records.

Borderless is an album about communication. Between people - and machines. It’s made of ambient fogs, acoustic improvisations and the beautiful melodies we can find, when we are working together.

Hope you enjoy it.

New tape release ‘Mosaic’ out yesterday - a process-phase album made heavily with the Ciat-Lonbarde Cocoquantus2 that resulted in 60 minutes of evolving industrial drone-scapes!
