After finding so much amazing music from this thread, I am very pleased to share my own cassette release! The album tracks have been available for awhile now, but I finally put together a cassette package that I am proud of. The cover is double sided, the “album” is on one side of the tape, while the other side is an original piece made for each cassette. I have been really into making unique objects/experiences, and the cassette format is a great way to realize those inclinations. Enjoy

This is a project that I recently finished. It came about almost by accident. I was playing around in crow and came up with a small patch and melody generator that really resonated with me. I have come to call this work a simulation of the way I choose to hear the world around me. Specifically a simulation of the shore. Where the waves are coming and going with the wind. Which also carries with it the sounds of ships and birds and whales. All drifting in and out of perception, but never truly absent. constant.
Since this place is singular, I have chosen to share it in a way that is akin to opening a window at any given moment. The tapes are each unique in their content, the way the world is the same each time you open your window, but always different. In honor of the individuality of the sonic material I created a generative sketch to create the covers of each cassette as well. Ensuring that no two tapes are alike.
The following snippets are to give a sense of the content of this place, but the tapes themselves run for 45 minutes per side. I hope you enjoy. Thanks

Thanks, I’m very much into the idea of unique objects, and I’m trying to make that a reality as often as possible.

Yesterday saw the release of my contribution to a series of tapes on Planks Editions which are heavily influenced by rules and constraints. I say “influenced” because while the organizer has a lot of rules that are suggested starting places, they aren’t dogmatic about following through on them. While I haven’t participated in the Disquiet Junto, this seems very similar, so I thought folks here might be interested.

From the tape insert:
" Recorded in my home studio using a Macumbista Soundbox, mixer, piezo pickups, Casio keyboard and an assortment of resonant metal objects, with special help from passing cars and chirping birds.

One of the great joys of working on a T. Jervell
project are the rules. They are numerous and
detailed and they push me to consider music
making approaches that | wouldn’t have
considered otherwise.
In this case, the idea of the Bordun was the
sticking point: how to incorporate this feature of
tuned, structured music into my noisy, abstract
sounds. | had been working with the Macumbista
‘Soundbox (essentially a homemade amp designed
for feedback) but found that while | enjoyed the
sounds it made, they tended to be of similar tone
or pitch most of the time. I knew that adding
objects between the speaker and the piezo
contact pickups | was using could change the
pitch but not to the extent | needed. By adding a
simple mixer | was able to inject a note from a
keyboard as well and experiment with objects until
| found a combination that liked to vibrate
sympathetically with it. Hopefully, this same group
of objects would also work with the fifth above or
below that note. In this way, | was able to cover all
the notes in a diatonic scale of C and their fifth.
Each of these became the seven tracks of 2
minutes each. The longer 7 minute tracks were
played in the key of C and G. Apologies to those
with perfect pitch as the keyboard was out of tune
and the resonant objects chosen for their
proximity rather than purity of tone but this led to
the harmonics and beat frequencies that make the
recordings interesting for me; a result I’m very
happy with. Here’s to finding freedom within
constraints!"
Happy to share download codes for those interested, just message me.
