(days are nearly back to normal, thanks for the patience y’all!)
arps depend on some external selection mechanism, so there wouldn’t be a direct way to feed arps from norns only. however, if the effect they’re looking for is a steady sequence of notes that they can control, that’s where [euclid] comes in
you can get to some really nice arp-like territory by:
- set euclid’s k and n to the same number to get steady steps (or just use the euclidean rhythms)
- hold K1 and use E2 set the mode to
span, which will fire off the pad associated with the tick number
- press K3 to swing over to the right side of the screen
- hold K1 and use E3 to set an auto pad ID offset (
+/-) to any number and the pad associated with the tick number will auto-advance
in total, the effect of k = 3, n = 3, span, and +/- offset = -4 will be like:
- pads 1,2,3
- pads 13,14,15
- pads 9,10,11
- pads 5,6,7
- pads 1,2,3
- <> repeats pattern <>
you can also set the rate of the sequence by holding K1 when setting the mode from single to span:

thank you for the kind words @cosmicsoundexplorer, much appreciated! your capture on IG the other day was

just not possible yet – the first heavy order of business when i’m back with the script is rewriting the pattern recording function, so this is definitely on the roadmap
re: freezes after 4 hours (wild!), if you can provide any logs from maiden (the norns core devs are also working on building out more robust logging), that’d be awesome. otherwise, i’ve not run into that during my own use, but will keep an eye out
