I am not sure the secret sauce that lines has found, but this is the most human online space I have experienced. I help lead a faith community in Pasadena, and there is something of that spirit here on lines. A kind of generous mutuality and curiosity for one another. Something like a life-altering accident can pressurize a community into unfiltered reactions. Lines folks have shown themselves unique in instinctual kindness, and my wager is that @tehn @dani_derks and the crew have cultivated that spirit well and like any true gift, generosity abounds and overflows back to the source. Blessings on your healing Dan.

very glad to hear that you are home.

Take the time that your body needs to heal and adapt, your outlook is already in good alignment with this, there is no such thing as “wasted time” and you seem very adept at finding the best possibilities out of limitations

all the very best.

I have a tiny snag, unsure if it is Norns or Cheat Codes, or how to solve the issue. I recently bought an Arc for use w/my Norns shield and Grid, and I keep getting this horrible clipping, particularly when using the filter.

Thought maybe it was power issues, since I just had a 2.4a 5v to power it and I got another thing drawing current, but after upgrading to a 2.5a 5v the problem remains.

It doesn’t seem to affect any other programs, but I’m open for attempts.

Any suggestions? Could it be something as simple as input level or something like this?

Edit: just read the latest update, and wish you well, Dan!

@dani_derks just an update on the just friends problem i was having. i was running the remainders script on crow but decided to try resetting crow and using druid to switch jf to synth mode, which fixed the problem. i ended up writing a crow script to switch back and forth between synth and regular modes using a trigger, so everything’s working. only weird thing is that it was working with arcologies and awake (the only other norns scripts i tested), so wondering if there’s potentially like a hard reset or something to switch jf modes in those scripts, but not familiar enough with norns scripting to figure it out myself. hope that helps a bit!

Much love and respect for your humble and gracious acceptance of these new traumas and challenges in your life @dani_derks . If we all could walk earth with a10th of the humility, emotional maturity and willingness to share as you have shown (now and for many years here) then we would all live on a much brighter planet. So thank you and best of luck with your recovery

i’ve been keeping on-screen time pretty limited, but wanted to thank everybody for the incredibly warm messages, both here and via DM. it’s been such a lovely thing to spend screen time gettin’ all fuzzy and thankful. what a fuckin’ honor :black_heart:

just wanted to close two loops on technical things:

  • @Thhhh , what a wild thing! i’m curious if the same behavior is replicable without the arc plugged in and just messing with the filters via the on-norns menu? that should rule out levels or software settings being the issue. lmk how that vibes + could you also share the exact power supply you’re using?
  • @hghrlearning , awake does auto-toggle synth mode on JF when JF is selected as an output. since cheat codes allows multiple and individual outputs for every bank, i didn’t want to assume that synth mode should be toggled on when the script is loaded – so there’s a toggle located under PARAMS > pad to note setup > toggle JF synth mode which should do what you’re describing doing with druid (here’s the code). it queries the current state of JF and if it isn’t in synth mode, it’ll pop it into synth mode. for cheat codes yellow, i’ll pop in a thing that allows you to save JF’s state with a collection, so you don’t have to do this flipping if you’re starting with a fresh power cycle, but for now that toggle should help resolve things – lmk if you run into any additional trouble tho!
bonkers proposal, but if anyone is morbidly curious to see an x-ray of my new pelvic hardware, unfold that lil' triangle!
