@stripes, I added pad -> crow output and it’s really fun. you win best feature request, hands down. :sparkles:

@andrew, you win best samples, hands down :sparkling_heart:

this has been a long update process, sincerest apologies and gratitude for the patience + excellent energy here. taking some time off this weekend. the release is actually done, it just requires a bit more documentation and a little bit of stress testing. if anyone is interested in getting into it and are able to help by playing with it, we can actually get this thing out wednesday. that would be :100::100::100:

DM for the updated script + guide :revolving_hearts:

Today I got the special treat of introducing two completely-new-to-monome folks to cheat codes with an arc and a grid.

They both picked it up right away and recorded these two pieces using some of my piano and hermit’s leaves! I’m blown away and honestly very inspired to record some music tomorrow

Thanks again, Dan!!!

Hey All,
I just got my Norns! And this is the script that put me over the edge. Learning and loving it so far.

One question: is it possible to transpose a pads pitch by an arbitrary amount of semitones? I know that it can do octaves and fifths but what about other transpositions? I could image it would open up some nice melodies / music if we could say copy and paste the same pad but alter it’s pitch, or alter pads pitch as we see fit. Sorry if this is available somewhere that I missed. But if it’s indeed not currently available do you think this is something that might be of interest?

THANKS.

AFAIK, no… but I’m pretty sure that between up/down octaves and up fifths you could work out how to arrive at that arbitrary number of semitones!

The nice thing about octaves and fifths is that, the transposition being a side effect of a change in playback speed, you’re more likely to arrive at rhythmically satisfying results.

@dan_derks ? +1 for this!

I’m away from my norns but i thought there is a global semitones setting in the settings menu of CC.

yes global but not per pad.

i’m currently laid out with a really bad flu, but i could see this being a good feature on the road toward gridless play. maybe on the loops page, a semitone pitch adjustment that serves as the base speed.

thx for the good q!

@vcvcvc_val, those clips are gorgeous holy moly. thank you for sharing them and for sharing cc with your friends!

Thanks Dan.
Sorry you’re feeling crap. It’s been around my house as well.

And glad you’re into the idea! I think it could open up some nice music, and take CC from an incredible live looper into an incredible live looper/sampler

I also like your idea of placing it in the loops page as well. As long as it was a per-pad adjustment, obviously.

Can’t thank you enough @dan_derks for CC! Will be featured heavily in my next release on GOL… SO inspiring to work with…

Get better soon! Flu season is the shits…

This was made with Cheat Codes at the end of a chain of loopers and some reverb with a guitar in front. I think you can feed almost anything into Cheat Codes and it will turn into something beautiful.

at it again with tonight’s installment of Late Night Noiz For Late Night Fiends…

using a SOMA Pipe going into Cheat Codes and additional noiz from MANGL

A simple question while I wait for my fates to arrive - is it possible to transpose a pad down by a fifth? Or any other way of resetting a pad’s rate, if one were to regret the 1.5x rate change?

I haven’t seen anything about this in this thread or in the documentation, but may well have missed it. Can’t wait to start cheating!

yes! the 4 finger move just raises by +0.5x, so hit again to go to 2x, then 134 to half-speed back to 1x!

also, new version dropping in like, 2 hours – includes per-pad semitone adjustments  (and like, one million new things)

closing this topic in celebration of the new release!!

there are so so many beautiful expressions in this thread, so this will remain public for some time as I hope y’all will continue sharing on the new thread.

~300 replies is a lot for someone new to walk into and since the update reflects such a large overhaul, it is best to start a new chapter
